Default Look who was on my flight today!

Rumours is also a staple on Continental's Audio/Video on Demand system, but I was so happy to see IYD on there!! It's probably been up a few months, but this was my first flight with these tv systems since March.

Stereo divas? We hear that Madonna and Lady Gaga have discussed performing together in a dual concert extravaganza similar to the Face to Face shows that piano men Billy Joel and Elton John did a few years back. Gaga's reps didn't respond to our requests for comment, but Madonna's spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg replied that the Material Girl's manager "laughed" when she ran our item by him. She then instructed us to "go to the title of Stevie Nicks' new album for the answer." That would be "In Your Dreams."

During this time, Horton established ASH Fitness after he had worked as a personal trainer. Here his client list consisted of names such as Stevie Nicks, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Idol, Lindsey Buckingham and Tom Petty. When he was asked to create a workout DVD series, Horton designed Power 90.

Edit: And Tom Petty? What.

Interesting tidbit on the Red Rocks video debacle:

Before the Belinda record, Dan Nash and Shelly had a falling out of sorts, because Dan had gotten close to the Stevie Nicks clique and Shelly felt he was losing a client. Sometime during the fall we started a project from hell in the Mix Room, "Stevie Nicks - Live at Red Rocks". It was an hour long concert video with all the close-up's reshot after the fact because Stevie was looking pretty bad.

Dan and Waddy were trying to keep the ship going straight and I played SSL guy. The time consumer was because of the new close-ups, the sync was off, so we floated the vocal around with the Lynx's (talking subframes) for hours and hours. The session's were always all-nighters, and it went on forever. One night I unplugged the remote from the Mitsu 32 with the machine on and of course it died and stopped the gig. Dan made me tell Stevie, which wasn't a whole lot of fun.

The good part was the "girls" (i.e. backup singers) were always around which was easy on the eyes. Needless to say, I don't think I ever watched the video after it came out.

It was already a rough month for Indianapolis concertgoers.

In about two weeks, Kings of Leon, The Decemberists, Ke$ha and Stevie Nicks all shrugged off their Indy dates. All four shows would have been hot events with Nicks, Ke$ha and The Decemberists serving as uncommon acts to come through the Circle City.

Pearl's Girl

DAISY LOWE has hit headlines recently for becoming Playboy's new cover girl, but she decided to cover up to model for her mother Pearl's new collection for Peacocks.

SEE DAISY IN MODEL ACTION

"I love the spotted dress because it's easy to throw on every day for any occasion," Lowe told us. "Mum makes dresses that flatter the female form."

The offering, which is Pearl Lowe's seventh collection for the high street store, comprises six dresses - inspired by a mix of the Seventies, Forties and the designer's favourite style icons - Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell and Stevie Nicks.

"In the Forties, people had to make their own dresses, so everything was so original and beautifully made," the designer said. "The prints, however, were inspired by my favourite singer Stevie Nicks.I predict the black dress with the white lace trim to be another sell out, as it's a follow on from last year's black dress with the lace collar that sold out in a week."

The collection launches in Peacocks stores on September 8.

Excerpt from an interview with Stevie Dance

The name Stevie–is it inspired by Stevie Nicks or is there another story behind it?
My parents love music. Fleetwood Mac was big deal to them.

"Debacle" is the operative word for that terrible video. I know people like it, but I've always found it to be an embarrassment.

I went to see Stevie Nicks the other week, and she was predictably great, enveloping the audience in her magic, as usual, if without the agitated brio of her heyday.

I was thinking of Stevie as I watched Grace Potter and the Nocturnals perform on the pavilion stage Saturday. They're both brassy blondes with a penchant for soulful turns of phrases and old-fashioned rock, in particular the music of the early 70s.

Only, if Stevie's favorite on-stage move is to play with her shawl, Potter's is to play with her hair. She throws it around like she wants to get rid of it, like it's in the middle of a wind tunnel.

The hair-tossing is one of several rock affectations Potter tries on during her live-shows. She's also a manic guitarist, especially on songs that play direct homage to classic rock 'n' roll ("Stop the Bus") and a furious, head-banging player of her Hammond organ (see "Only Love.")

But, rock is not her only register.

In fact, since their start as a a traditional, meat-and-potatoes rock outfit, Potter and her band have moved to explore other genres, most recently, flirting with country music. Last year, she recorded a duet, "You and Tequila," withKenny Chesney.

On Saturday, both sides were on display, though, the Chesney duet, which would have been woefully out of place here, did not make an appearance.

She underplayed "Goodbye Kiss," a twangy ballad covering time-honored country territory: unrequited love. Another ballad, "Apologies," came across as demure, and all the more moving because of it.

As a country singer, she's grittier, and more fashionable than most; think a country singer in the body of Sienna Miller. But flitting between rock and country suits her. Like Stevie, she's a fungible stage presence, uncomfortable pegged to one genre.

It's worth noting that Potter and the singer who followed her on the pavilion, Patti Smith - who was in fine form, both singing and sermonizing beautifully from stage - are outliers at FreeFest on two counts. They're traditionalists rockers at a festival dominated by dance and club music.

And, they were the only women on this year's bill.

The Examiner

http://www.examiner.com/social-media...een-amy-woodby

Amy Woodby is missing, and all across Facebook people are lending their status reports to try to help find her. The Bristol native, a resident of Virginia Beach, Virginia, has not been seen or heard from since September 3, 2011, when she talked to her father on the phone on the way to a Stevie Nicks concert in Washington, DC. Her mother, Brenda Woodby, has posted the following heart-wrenching post:

"Please everyone I need your prayers! My oldest daughter that lives in Virginia Beach is missing! No one has seen or heard from her since Sept 3rd when she called her dad and told him she was on her way to a Stevie Nicks concert in DC, a 3 min phone call was all and she said she would call back later and never did! That's not unusual for Amy! We have filed a missing person report at virginia Beach, The Detective that has our case has really been great in working with us! I am posting a picture of"...(post ended like that)

Excerpt from Rolling Stone Interview with Anna Sui, September 14, 2011
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/bl...itage-20110914

Who is the ultimate Anna Sui muse? Is she a singer?

Anita Pallenberg, but she's not a musician! But, weirdly, I'd have to say Stevie Nicks is probably the one. I have a funny story here, though. A long time ago, I mentioned in the press that I hated Fleetwood Mac, because they were a part of the stadium rock mainstream that I was railing against in the 1970s. She read it and called me. She thought it was so funny I would say that publicly, so she invited me to watch her perform. I've always loved her aesthetic; she's a true style icon. I did a whole collection based on her Rolling Stone covers!

Excerpt from a My Old RV letter discussing a Texas road trip
http://myoldrv.com/?p=2801
Readers Write - Stevie Nicks - True West Texas Tales
By andyj, on September 14th, 2011

I topped a small rise in the road and saw that we were driving into a big old Texas thunderstorm! Time to change gears ladies. I popped a new cassette into the Pioneer quadraphonic. It was Fleetwood Mac, “Rumours”. I skipped ahead to the track “Dreams” was on. I thought it would enhance the herbal essence we were currently under and it did! The lyrics, ” Thunder only happens when it’s raining” ,ringing out of that three part harmony , Stevie’s voice like a beacon in the storm had us in a trance like state.

As the sky turned leaden and the rain and thunder began to build so did the music. We were just floating along in this big old car, mesmerized by our high and the thunder and lightening show all around us. Soooo cool!

As if on cue, as the song ended and the boys in the car in front of us began to spin out on the rain soaked highway. They did one, two, three complete 360′s and wound up facing us in our lane. You could see there eyes big as saucers inside the car! I was doing all I could to stop and control the freight train I was driving as we veered into various lanes and finally came to rest within 6 feet, nose, to nose of the boy’s vehicle. Whoa! What a rush! We all piled out of our cars right there in the middle of the highway to inspect ourselves, and the cars. We all still had all of our limbs and no one was bleeding. The only casualty was a hub cap off the boy’s car.

We drove on in silence, and stopped at the next roadside store and got coffee, LOTS of coffee. We never did see those boys again. We never did go into Austin that weekend either. We stayed at the condo and used the boat, and skied, but the mood was somber. I guess we figured we pushed the envelope far enough.

Isn’t it strange how a certain song, a certain artist, or a certain band can freeze a moment of time in your life forever? Every time I have heard Stevie Nick’s voice since that day, I am transported back to that highway in the late spring of my youth. The memory is as alive and vivid as if I were watching it on a movie screen.

Stevie,I have always loved you. You are haunting, ethereal, and eternally lovely. I saw you perform on “The Talk” today and you gave me chill bumps! Thanks for the memories and thanks for supporting our young men and women in service to our country! You are a true legend!

Style.com
http://www.style.com/beauty/beautyco...stage-at-odlr/

Stylist Orlando Pita describes a hairstyle:

Pita’s version of the seventies style also featured a middle part that he used to create two front sections, which he pulled back and pinned underneath a top layer of fuzz. “It’s young, fresh, and romantic,” he continued, referencing Renaissance paintings and Stevie Nicks, a name that isn’t typically bandied about backstage at one of de la Renta’s shows, either.

The references to the Fleetwood Mac front woman ended there (much to our chagrin) as Revlon global artistic director Gucci Westman took the makeup reins. “It’s all about the skin,” Westman said, prepping complexions with Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream and its Regenerating Serum so that Revlon’s Age Defying Spa Illuminator in Pink Light and its Illuminance Crème Shadow in Not Just Nude melted right in.
