Thumbs up Valdosta, GA- Anyone Been There?

Hey all- I've been looking at grad schools, and am currently getting more info on Valdosta State's music program. Was just wondering if anyone has been to the city, or knows much about it?

Thanks,
Ethan

Valdosta is like the last stop if you're driving I75 and sits a few minutes above Florida. You know you're almost in Florida once you hit Valdosta. I have pics somewhere of me stopped outside a gas station/carryout there because thats about where you start seeing palm trees all over and for northern people, that's always a fun sight. Other than just passing through there to and from Florida, I couldn't tell you about living there or it's schools but it's so far south in Georgia that it looks like northern Florida.

My friend's husband was a professor in the Theatre Department there. I know they didn't particularly care for the school/town. According to them, it was a typical smaller town...narrow-minded and petty, with a lot of drama at the university.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I've still got friends in Valdosta, and most of Florida. Ethan, I would suggest finding out how successful the graduates are from that program... and whether or not you're learning (in the course) what you want to.

Former UK coach Hal Mumme was head coach at Valdosta State. I though you enrolled at WKU?

I'm a junior now at WKU. I'd be looking for grad schools.

Valdosta is sending me some materials through the mail, and depending on how they sound, I may be making a visit down there. The graduate assistant positions that they offer are fantastic, which is the huge plus.
