Angry Led Zep fans get a fab new DVD, but what about FM fans?

I got the new Led Zeppelin DVD last week and it's simply magnificent. There's footage from about four or five different concerts throughout the years, TV appearances, videos, interviews, all amounting to more than five hours worth of stuff. Brilliantly remastered, with amazing sound and all on a two-disc set at a reasonable price.

Now why can't Fleetwood Mac do something like this? Even if they just put the Rosebud footage, the Tusk documentary and the Mirage concert on it and a few vids, how cool would that be?

I know there was talk of some kind of live DVD compilation being put together and released but that seems like ages ago and nothing seems to be happening. Surely the success of the Led Zep DVD might prompt them to get back on track, it seems silly not to! I'm just fed up waiting.

Thumbs up That's true...

I brought up this point elsewhere to why Metallica has a new Cd release that includes a free BONUS full 80 minute DVD of the live "St.Anger Rehearsals" and the regular SYW disc just had a crumb that everyone already knew about/saw...Hell, They could've included classic footage onto "Very Best Of", But did they?

They could have tossed in more on SYW than what was included (The Limited Edit. wasnt bad, But it could've been better with the extra disc being a DVD than just a few extra studio/live tracks)...But I guess they are holding back to "squeeze more money" out later with the "supposed" DVD of the recording of SYW.

Brian j.

ps-Be aware of the DVD's on eBay for the Mirage '82 (The cover of Mirage '82 has the TITN tour lineup on the front cover...Whatta goof!!!) & Tusk '79 shows, They may look great visually but are just more of the Brazilian bootlegs that are everywhere (Hell, My wife bought me a Brazilian bootleg DVD at "Best Buy" of Queen's "Greatest Flix 2"...Great clear "digital" video images, But the surround sound is definitely NOT 5.1!!!)

The first thing I thought of when I heard about the Led Zeppelin CD box set & DVD was "why couldn't Fleetwood Mac do something like this?" In addition to the Tusk documentary & concert and the Mirage video, they could add in the 1977 Japan footage & my all time favorite Mac video, the 1975 Largo, MD show. They showed a little of the Japan footage on Mick's 2 Sticks & A Drum DVD. But, it was only a minute or two. I kept thinking, forget about Mick and show the rest of the Japan show. I'd also love a CD of live performances from the Bob Welch/Fleetwood Mac era.

Led Zeppelin fans are sure VERY LUCKY.

There's just so little official stuff out there, we only have The Dance and the Rumours Classic Albums DVD (which let's face it was made for a TV series and was not instigated by the band). If they could put all these performances together on one release or even several, fans WILL buy them for sure. They are sitting on a shelf somewhere wasting away, it just seems so stupid when there is a demand for them.

To a point...but nobody's died from the Mac. AND, they're still out their playing and making new music. Zep has been done since the year I was born!

Yep, for a while I was in hog-heaven. I used my parents VCR one night, way back when MTV played a mid-night show, Saturday night called the "Head-Bangers Ball". One night they played a concert of FM from back in '77. I got it on tape and watched it constantly. Naturally, eventually, the tape broke from the rewinding and playing. I was crushed to say the least and have waited ever since for a DVD to come out.
I bought a copy of the Led Zep DVD. One word: Rocks!!!
Jimmy Paige admitted to using bootleg as well as authorized material to make it possible to put it all together. I guess us FM fans are gonna hafta wait a little longer.
Patience is a virtue. If I have to wait 'til I'm 100. I'll buy the FM DVD as soon as it's released.

Once again, Fleetwood Mac is sitting on a bunch of cool stuff but continues to recycle the same old stuff or give us little tads that don't amount to much. I have always been very vocal when it comes to this subject.
Yes, Mirage and Tusk official videos should be brought back on DVD format. Fleetwood Mac needs a music video compilation. RoseBud footage, Midnight Special, the Young show-Japan 1977 show should be put together in a package. Stevie and Lindsey have solo music videos that could be packaged. I often wonder if there was any other footage from Tusk or Mirage that can be released, namely the Us Festival if any such footage exists?. I can definitely go on and on but that is definitely good for starters.
