Joanna Newsom Loves Lindsey
on the front page of yesterday's Pitchfork, Joanna Newsom lists her favorite music of the past year. Shut Us Down is the first track listed. She says she loves Lindsey. And Bwana shows up later on in the list.
http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/articl...-joanna-newsom Has everyone sampled the new Wilco album? Pretty impressive. |

Well Joanna, we love him too.
Yes Wilco's new album was a bit flat at first listen but after a few spins they drag you in and those songs are simply gorgeous. Check out Phonograph. A band that just released their amazing debut. They're discovered by Wilco. Every Lindseyfan that loves Wilco is my friend. Period.

I remember she's mentioned her love of Lindsey's music before, in fact here's the thread: http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=30515 It's awesome. There's been a real mixed reaction to it but I've loved it from the start. I saw them live twice a couple of weeks back and the new songs sound fantastic live too. I just love Tweedy et co.

dudes,
i can't tell you how refreshing it is to see an intelligent exchange of quality new music commentary here. i still have not heard joanna, just samples. but what i have heard is really intriguing. kind of reminds me of somewhere in there amongst victoria williams, rickie lee jones, with a little maria mckee and rufus wainwright thrown in. her reviews are mostly stellar. looking forward to it. and yes, i agree - the new Wilco was disappointing to me at first as well. but now, after several weeks it has grown on me like a fine moldy hunk of cheese from some small town in south eastern France. i love it, and i'd go so far as to say it's as strong as many of our favorite 1970's albums. i have been a Wilco fan since day one. can't say this one is my favorite, but something about it makes me love it like an old classic Eagles album. |
