Default Don’t Stop

Don’t Stop was played at Republican National Convention last night by the band Sixwire. It was an instrumental and was after J. D. Vance’s acceptance speech for Vice President. Sixwire has been playing numerous classic rock songs in between the speeches. I thought would they dare play a Fleetwood Mac song? Then I thought Don’t Stop would be perfect song for the mood of this convention. And when Sixwire started playing Don’t Stop I was absolutely ecstatic. Just letting you know.

What a shameful use of a McVie classic. This is a result of selling your catalogue. Does copyright include ****ty covers?

Subtle way of invoking Clinton for the undecideds.

Sigh.... Let that woman rest in peace. Those are some evil people leading the charge of inhumanity.

I've heard it played at a Conservative party conference here in the UK in the past, although not by a band.

My thoughts on the current incarnation of the Republican party do not bear repeating and would probably break Ledge rules if I did so. All four surviving members are now US citizens and I think only John has publicly stated he was for the GOP in the past. Stevie recently made a comment along the lines of " it doesn't matter who you vote for, just vote!". I suppose she didn't want to alienate some of her fans, but you know what, Stevie, it does kind of matter who you vote for. That's the whole point.

Im pretty sure it’s been reported here that both John and Christine said they didn’t vote for Bill Clinton. That doesn’t mean they would have voted for Trump, though. Stevie and Lindsey seem very liberal; from comments she has made, it’s obvious whom Stevie voted for in 2020, while Lindsey has performed at fundraisers for Democratic candidates in the past (not necessarily someone running for President, but other political offices). Mick I’m not sure about but I would bet is a Democrat.

There was a NicksFix q and a or faq with John Kinney where he said Stevie was Republican or leaned Republican. But because she’s a Republican doesn’t mean she supports Trump. I doubt John or Christine supported Trump even though they are conservative. Rick Vito did.
I’d say recently, Lindsey’s the most liberal.

The RNC had to get a cover band LOL

The video Stevie and Cameron Crowe made for Show Me the Way is what makes me think she voted Democrat. At least in the last election.

She did. And likely did in 2016 too. I didn't say she supported Trump. For the record, a lot of Republicans voted for Hillary and Joe in 2016 and 2020 too because Trump was and is extreme. I have a feeling she supported Bush and McCain. Henley wasn't and isn't afraid to talk politics in his music or at concerts so I doubt Azoff told Stevie not to talk about Bush in 2003. Lindsey on the other hand wrote Peacekeeper.

Don't forget Azoff was entertaining calls from Trump campaign about performers for the 2017 "inauguration."

I know- I really think there is a difference between Republicans and Trump supporters. There are many Republicans who don’t support Trump.

I feel like someone here said Stevie had never voted before until 2016 when she voted for Hilary Clinton, but I could be misremembering. Plus I don’t know how they would know that unless she said it in an interview.

Stevie didn’t vote in 2016. She said she was too busy. I take that to mean she was preparing for her Songs From The Vault Tour. Stevie first voted in 2019.

Instead of the Lincoln Project clutching their pearls blabbing on and on about the GOP rot, I wish they’d do something more effective, like form a new party for conservatives committed to American democracy, something like the Conservative Party of America.

It would not surprise me if Stevie was originally a Republican. Her parents fit the typical republican mold when she was growing up.
Are you forgetting Stevie pretty much endorsed Hillary and told everyone she was going to win a Landslide and she would sing that song at her inauguration....or something along those lines.
Today everyone is so tribal so many identify themselves with a political party. Just in my lifetime the parties have completely switched. I am from Appalachia and in the 1980s we were one of the few places in the country that despised Reagan. We never saw the appeal in him. Today, Trump's biggest support comes from that region. If you look at all the counties that voted for Mondale/Ferraro in 1984 are Trump's most successful counties. Planned Parenthood was started by Republicans and today they want to shut it down and democrats are their supporters now. In the 70s and 80s, republicans were wealthy, college educated suburban. Today college educated wealthy people tend to vote democrat. Democrats were the non-college educated party. Today that is Trump's biggest group. In the 70s and 80s West Virginia was the most democrat state. It was one of the few states that Dukakis won in 1988. Today its all republican and Trump wins by 30 points.
