"Singer Not The Song"
I wonder whether Stevie overdubbed vocals to this track with a view toward the band including it on Say You Will when they considered making a double disc: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVbxddiiCkM
She really belongs on it, certainly more so than on "I Am Waiting," to which they did have her try adding vocals (as seen in Destiny Rules). Lindsey releasing this song on his next album would be a sly retort to Mick's quote in the band's press release announcing his firing: "Fleetwood Mac has always been about an amazing collection of songs that are performed with a unique blend of talents." |

I think that’s Lindsey playing around on the Fairlight.
Think of “I Must Go” for comparison.

I also never understood all the Stones covers.

It's one of his few nods to roots rock. "Blue Letter" is another.

"That’s a period of Stones that I relate to a lot for whatever reason. I guess it was right at the peak of Brian Jones’s influence before he went downhill and he was bringing a lot of European colors into the mix and influencing the way they were writing. That song was something I had done a few years earlier. Everything else from the new album was pretty much written [for it]. There was nothing sitting waiting to find a home except that Rolling Stones song. It seemed like a nice ender for the album."
