Default Stevie's Art Supplies

I have always been curious about what tools/supplies Stevie uses when she draws.. I'm watching the interview from 1984 where she shows the painting of Sister Honey, and I realized I have no idea how or what she uses when she draws.. it sort of looks like dark led pencils on poster board, but I can't really tell. I know it's a sort of random topic and I'm sure nobody really knows exactly what she uses, but I thought it might be sort of interesting to see if anyone had any guesses.

if I HAD to guess, I'd say she uses oil pastels on a sketch pad. then maybe some water color to get those pale delicate tones to fill in

Great topic.Thats a great question to ask her.My mother used colored pencils and acrylic paints.

I always love her color tinting.

We can credit Neal Preston for getting Stevie obsessed with hand tinting colors on black and white photographs. He brought over a set of Marshall hand tints and demonstrated how to use them by taking a b&w pic of her and putting pink (I think) on one of her leg warmers, to which she said, "I don't like that color, Neal. Why don't you just leave these hand tints here with me and get lost."

Then she basically taught herself.
