Default Apostle

The first PVK Album release "In The Skies", featured the instrumental called Apostle which was a bare somber but haunting piece. In the release of "kolors" a few years later, it reappears as a fully orchstrated tune. I know a lot of the songs were billed as outtakes of the prior PVK releases. Does anyone know what transpired woth this particular song? Who did the orchestration? When was it done? Is there any anecdotal reference to the mix?

"Apostle" only appears on the reissue of "Kolors", it wasn't
on the original album.
The version on "Kolors" is the single version, released in June 1978.
So the orchestration likely took place in 77-78, probably with Peter's consent, though he doesn't remember anything.

It's not an outtake then, but another instrumental, "Bandit"
was reworked on "Kolors" - and totally ruined.

On the 1988 compilation "Legend" - where most of the non-Kolors
outtakes showed up. But these weren't overdubbed.
Otherwise, "Bandit" is available on many other PVK compilations.

But the "non-dubbed" version of Bandit isn't available on any of the remastered PVK/Creole albums, is it?

If my memory doesn't mislead entirely I seem to remember that the orchestrated version of "Apostle" was released as a single at about the time of the release of the "In The Skies" album. I'll check as soon as I get back home to see if there are any info on orchestration etc och the label. The cover of my copy was a simple non-illustrated one, but "PVK"-green. The B-side was "Tribal Dance", same version as on the album.

It has been my understanding all these years that "Tribal Dance" was the A-side with "Apostle" being the B-side. But, I could be wrong...30 years does weird things to the memory banks...especially considering the extracurricular activies that abounded in the late '70s.

I think the PVK reissues should've just omitted the Kolors album altogether and used those songs as bonus tracks on the correspondng albums that the sessions produced. (Of course, that would mean that both versions of "Apostle" been released on the In The Skies reissue, etc)

How about the version of Apostle with his ex-wife Jane on violin.
When and where was this recorded (and WHY???)? Anybody have any clues?

That's interesting, I've never even heard of the existence
of a such version!

And as for "Kolors" - why couldn't they dig out the non-ovedubbed versions???

Dear Folks,

I am also interested in this. I , in my poor plodding way have tried to see if she had ever played anywhere with Peter. I was unsucsessful.. Violin goes so well with Peters voice. Just lke the sound of the "59 LP"
