Default Bob Welch (self titled) 1981

Here is another long since out of print album, Bob Welch's self titled one from 1981. Although it doesn't have too many great songs on there, it is probably worthy of more than being deleted from circulation.

My favourite songs on there include Bend Me Shape Me, If You Think You Know How To Love Me and It's What Ya Don't Say. All songs in that typical Bob Welch pop of the early eighties. It doesn't come close to his FM work, it doesn't come close to French Kiss and Three Hearts, but it was certainly better than a lot of the music that is still remembered from the eighties.

Please tell me what you think once you have listened.

I do like some songs from the album. Imaginary Fool and To My Heart Again are standouts to me. I get the feeling Bob wasn't too thrilled about some of the material. I have read that he was pressured by record execs to record some of the songs that made it to the album.

Specifically (if you read his Q&A's here at the Penguin) "Bend Me, Shape Me" is on his "I loathed doing it" list. Despite that, his version sounds great to me.

"Two To Do" is a great song, glad they picked that as the single.

I thought his Eye Contact album from '83 was a bit stronger throughout, though

Talking of Eye Contact, I think that one is out of print too isn't it. I'll post for those who don't have it when I get home.
