I started the first Stevie Nicks Remix Project thread when I first joined The Ledge about 3 years ago. Many of the links present in that thread are dead, so I thought I'd start "Part 2."

I'll start with posting a handful of new House/Dance/Trance cover versions of "Edge" released in the past year or so, followed by the white label & bootleg remixes of "Edge." The remixes that Warner officially commissioned (on spec ) in 2007 have been kept under wraps.

Chris Galmon – Edge of Seventeen 2010 Digital EP

June 2010, Producer/Remixer Chris Galmon released a 6-track "Edge of Seventeen" digital-only EP featuring Club Mix & Radio Edit remixes from Andy Ztoned, Lady Paranoja and Parajoe & Parajack. Digital EP is available via Amazon, Beatport, etc.

German DJ/Producer Alex Megane released a trance/house cover "Little Lies" in 2005 and followed it up with another batch of remixes in 2006. Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 were released on vinyl and CD.

The following is the Little Lies music video re-edited and remixed to the six-minute, 1987 remix ripped directly from a RockAmerica Video Pool pro-subscription series DVD. The file-size is small (39 mb), but if people want a higher quality, I will re-rip it from DVD at maximum quality but the file-size will be huge.

I'm not a big fan of DJ/Dance remixes. But I am really impressed by the artwork that comes has been generated. I'm curious to know about licensing/copyright issues.

There are the official remixes, sanctioned by artists. And then there are numerous other remixes. Are all these legally proper? Is there some loop hole where these other versions are allowed to be created and cirulated?

Enlighten me.

Remixed tracks that are not commissioned/authorized technically infringe on the rights of the copyright holder. It doesn't matter if the tracks are being sold or distributed for free, since both could potentially interfere with the copyright holder's ability to generate income from their work.

Except in very rare cases, labels no longer pursue legal action action "white label" or "bootleg" remixes.

In regard to the artwork, I design 95% of what appears in this thread because I can't stand seeing a blank space intended for artwork on my iPod or iTunes, etc.
