Default Frozen Love or Crystal

So most people think that Frozen Love was the track Mick heard that made him want Lindsey to join Fleetwood Mac, but in a recent interview Mick said it was Crystal. Does anyone know which one was the actually song that was responsible for LB and ST joining FM (also FL makes more sense since Crystal since it has more intricate guitar).

^Also it makes sense since Crystal made it on to the first Mac record. Then again I heard that Keith Olsen was playing the Buckingham Nicks album to impress Mick... so he may have heard both of them.

I believe it really was FL, initially. I remember a different interview where one of them said that Mick had asked to hear another track(s) by them (this may or not have been the exact same day).

In all the different interviews, it was always believed or talked about it being FL, until recently. It's really hard to say, but I think Crystal may have been the first song John had heard from them, who knows.

It was Frozen Love.

And I wish that was the song B&N carried over with them to the white album. Chrystal is beautiful and I especially love the organ work on it. But Frozen Love is a masterpiece.

Didn't LB mention seeing MF rocking out to a searing guitar solo? Crystal doesn't have that, though maybe he heard that too.

I've heard Mick say in interviews that Keith played him two songs. Crystal could have been the other one, but Lindsey specifically has said it was Frozen Love being played when he walked in from the other studio and saw Mick grooving to the song.

I don't think he played the whole album though - Mick had groceries in the car! LOL.

I'm pretty sure from what I've read and heard in interviews with Lindsey and other FM members that it was Frozen Love that Mike first heard. He was impressed with the guitar solo at the end. Like one of the above posts mentions, Crystal doesn't have a guitar solo. He may had heard both, but I don't know in what order. If Mick was impressed, he would've proberly asked to hear other tracks from the album aswell.

i'm reading your post and then all the responses and lmao. cannot believe nobody went back to where you got this and/or nobody remembers - it was just few days ago?!?!?

Mick said 2 separate sentences and when they were transcribed they somehow got spliced together - he said he has heard BN work for the first time in SOund City studios, and then he also said that John loved Crystal. as far as i remember he didn't say anywhere it was Crystal he heard at Sound City studios. at least that was understanding of anybody in the press thread or whichever thread it was that this was first discussed.

this is how the rumors get started...

Yes, I have a recording of a Stevie interview from the 80s where she says that John loved Crystal and "from the first time he heard it he said "I want this on the album". I didn't really, because I write so many songs that putting old songs that take places of new songs...... But John was insistent, so I said alright" I've always wondered if the references to the sea "drove me like a magnet/to the sea" was part of the appeal for him.
