Yes, but not exactly.

"when the candles burn down" = "At the end of the day"

"worlds turn to stone" = "I've got writers block...hey, ya know, I haven't listened to Between The Buttons in a while."

Wow, how did I miss this thread?
Btw, Between The Buttons is a great album, I must dig that out!

I saw it a long, long, long time ago but I should be getting it on DVD very soon. He looks like a bank robber or something in that photo. "Stick 'em up!"

Oh let me know when you get it so we can discuss!
The band minus Stevie are doing promos for some MTV competitions - it's great. I just loved Lindsey's insistence on wearing his hoodie (maybe it was new or something!)

Hey, that would make a great immunity question for my Survivor!!

People, people. Let's remember the reason we were all brought to this beautiful place. The stone debate. Shall I throw out the "Fly away home or you'll turn to stone" line to get you started? Shall shall shall.

Oops, wrong thread. You never ever want to joke around about serious business like SURVIVOR. I learned my lesson. They sure showed me.

About the stone thing, I answered you. He found a pretty rock and went "ooooooh, pretttty". Then, he got the inspiration and at the same time, was inspired to become taller and make his face longer but only to get chicks and the cool Camaro that he later lost due to returning to his normal size.

That's Grandmaster BoBo to you.

So we understand the stone thing, BUT, we must now turn our attention to the height. In way was he inspired to alter his appearance? Was it the pretty rock? Could he have simply look at an oval shaped rock and thought his face would look even more beautiful if only he could attain the spledor that is the oval in question? But it would have had to have been a tall, oval shaped rock. Two birds with one stone. Ba dum CH.

Grandmaster BoBo,
I'm not really sure the pretty rock inspired the increase in height and shape of face. I think it's possible he was in need of a different look. He'd spent all those years in FM and wanted a change. So, he thought, hmm. I could grow my beard back. No. I could cut my hair a different way. No. I could..I could. And then it hit him like a sledgehammer to a pesky little roach! I could get taller! I could make my face longer! I could get chicks! I could get a Camaro! Bam. The OOTC look was born.

OR..... MAYBE..... He lifted the phrase from a very popular 1977 release by Electric Light Orchestra (fondly known as "ELO")... Turn to Stone. Note the phrase is repeated like 30 times.

Turn To Stone
The city streets are empty now THE LIGHTS DON'T SHINE NO MORE
and so the songs are way down low TURNING TURNING TURNING
A sound that flows into my mind THE ECHOES OF THE DAYLIGHT
of everything that is alive IN MY BLUE WORLD

I turn to stone when you are gone, I turn to stone.
Turn to stone when you comin' home, I can't go on.

The dying embers of the night A FIRE THAT SLOWLY FADES TILL DAWN
still glow upon the wall so bright BURNING BURNING BURNING
The tired streets that hide away FROM HERE TO EVERYWHERE THEY GO
roll past my door into the day IN MY BLUE WORLD

I turn to stone when you are gone, I turn to stone.
Turn to stone when you comin' home, I can't go on.
Turn to stone when you are gone, I turn to stone.

Yes, I'm turnin' to stone 'cos you ain't comin' home.
Why you ain't comin' home if I'm turnin' to stone?
You've been gone for so long and I can't carry on,
yes, I'm turnin', I'm turnin', I'm turnin' to stone.

The dancing shadows on the wall THE TWO-STEP IN THE HALL
are all I see since you've been gone TURNING TURNING TURNING
Through all I sit here and I wait I TURN TO STONE I TURN TO STONE
You will return again some day TO MY BLUE WORLD

I turn to stone when you are gone, I turn to stone.
Turn to stone when you comin' home, I can't go on.
Turn to stone when you are gone, I turn to stone.

I turn to stone when you are gone, I turn to stone.
Turn to stone when you comin' home, I can't go on.
Turn to stone when you are gone, I turn to stone.

Laura

You're really not being nice at all. I don't care if you thought it was funny. I wasn't trying to impress you so please stop attacking me. You did it enough in the other thread. Please stop.

I didn't really feel like I was attacking you to tell the truth, so I'm sorry about that, but you bought the subject up again in another thread. I was just saying what I think about it.
But anyway, if you are willing to let it go, I will too.

Agreed.

What is with these crazy threads on this board lately?
First "Lindsey got taller and longer of face for OOTC" and now questioning his use of the word "stone." WTF?
