Question The infamous Rock Me Tonight video

I am curious what some of you think about the drama surrounding this video. I was in Jr High when this video came out in the summer of 1984 and was peak MTV time. The 80s were in full swing with neon colors. My Jr High had to stop girls from wearing neon headbands to school. The Madonna look was in full swing. I do remember a comment I heard in Jr High with someone commenting on the pink guitar. That was just too much for metal guys. I had no issue with the pink sheets and pink guitar. That was so 80s. But the way he danced and pranced around was ridiculous and funny. IMHO that was the joke of the video. It ruined Billy's rock chops which may have hurt his career. However Rock Me Tonight was Billy's biggest hit single hitting #15 on the pop charts. The album was hugely successful too. Metal bands wore make up, looked like women, and wore tights in videos yet there was not the same backlash. I think the video hurt him with some of his core audience, teenage boys who were into hard rock. This has been debated since the 1980s. IMHO there are far more embarrassing videos than this. I think if he did not swing his arms around dancing that no one would have cared so much. Many thought he was gay because of the video but he was just trapped in the mid 80s video era.
Anway here is a new clip that I just watched that I thought was interesting.

Default

I saw him open for Queen in LA around 1981. I can’t say anything about him, really. I just knew the one song about the stroke.
