I'm so glad your dog is okay. A similar thing happened to me. This was a couple of years ago and I was taking my neice and my 3 dogs to the State Forest. We were going around one of the large ponds and the road gets very curvy and dips. All of a sudden my neice yells out that one of the dogs jumped out the window. I was going slow but not that slow and there's no way. Well, I look in the rearview mirror and sure enough, there's Hunter - the beagle (figured) - standing there in the middle of the road. He had a couple of scratches on his nose but otherwise was fine. We managed to lure him back into the car (he's a runner) and the rest of the afternoon was fine. Needless-to-say, I never had the windows rolled that far down w the dogs in the car again.

You have learned a lesson, Anita. I advise you read this:

http://life.familyeducation.com/dogs/travel/45672.html
www.ruffrider.com/airbag-warning-for-pet-owners
Well, yes & no. IMO, there was never a lesson to be learned, cause this is my first dog, and something I apparently needed LONG ago. She has done so much for me, my spirits, etc, so w/ that in mind, I spent a lot of time reading things, and just wanting to do 100% right by her. The passanger seat has a little doggie harness were the seat belt goes thru so she can't wander.
I'm not being biased, but I can not convey to you what a well behaved dog she is. Not a jumper or whimper'er. BUT, when I hit that frontage road on the way home, she's all about it...something about it is exciting, so ONLY on that street do I let her on my lap. Is it a street, still full of accidents to be had? Fer sure, so yes, a lesson was learned. Was I aware of all this stuff? Yup, but as usual, people never think it can happen to them. Or that "this or that aspect" is ok.< that's where I didn't think I'd ever need a lesson

And lastly, thanks for all the "glad she's ok" cause like I said, I won't let myself forget this anytime soon...even THOUGH she is ok. It's dumb, but ya know, something you can't help but hold onto. I've heard a few other people say similar things have happened. Heck, they are dogs....expect the unexpected. lol

Oh, and that dog vs. cat thing. I can't find it either, but omfg, it is SO funny! Thinking the bird is an informant. lmao

Excerpts from a Cat's Diary

Day 983 of my captivity.

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat,

while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.
Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear,

I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape.

In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet.

I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts,

since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of.

However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am.
Bastards!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight.

I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event.
However, I could hear the noises and smell the food.

I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies."

I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my
tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking.

I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.

The dog receives special privileges.

He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return.

He is obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant.

I observe him communicate with the guards regularly.

I am certain that he reports my every move.

My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell,
so he is safe for now . . .

Eh. lessons are a dime a dozen these days, even with inflation. What I really wanted to ask you was, When are you gonna join my mail list? I really need you on there!

Otherwise known as POOCHIE-WOOCHIE.
Put your mouth up to her snout & say POOCHIE-WOOCHIE rapidly four or six times, & she will just eat you up. And she might even look at you with some alarm in her expression, too.

Anita, I'm glad your dog is okay. California wants to pass a law banning drivers from having their pets sit in their laps. I think that might be a good idea.

He was!...............he looks very.................err....................OLD!

He spoke well - quite funny, more personable than I was expecting. For $1000 you got to have your photograph taken with him if you wanted (I didn't!). God knows what the people on his table paid to have dinner sat with him.
