Default Rotten Tomatoes to Block Negative Reviews of ‘Black Panther’ Movie Because ‘Racism’

https://www.dangerous.com/41162/rott...-movie-racism/

By Pawl Bazile February 6, 2018
If you’re planning to review the upcoming film Black Panther on Rotten Tomatoes, it better be positive. Or else.

The review site has warned fans ahead of Black Panther‘s February 16 release that negative reviews out of “hate” will be blocked.

The response was prompted by a Facebook Group called “Down With Disney’s Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys,” attempting to organize its followers to give Black Panther negative scores. Black Panther is a Marvel superhero who first appeared in the comics in 1966 and has been featured in many recent Marvel films.

The Facebook group had a similar campaign against Star Wars: The Last Jedi which received an audience score of 48%.

The group created a Facebook event for members of the anti-Disney/Marvel fan base with an objective of “Give Black Panther a Rotten Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes.”

Nearly 4,000 people said they were “going” in the event, with an additional 2,000 marking that they were “interested.”

The fan group posted in the event “Due to the sudden rise in those disgruntled with Disney business practices, especially due to the corporate manipulations which created falsified bad press for the DCEU, I feel that it’s time to strike back at all those under Disney and bring down the house of mouse’s actions for paying off the critics that hurt DC Comics on film and for other parties affected by them.”

Rotten Tomatoes responded in The Wrap:

“We at Rotten Tomatoes are proud to have become a platform for passionate fans to debate and discuss entertainment and we take that responsibility seriously. While we respect our fans’ diverse opinions, we do not condone hate speech. Our team of security, network and social experts continue to closely monitor our platforms and any users who engage in such activities will be blocked from our site and their comments removed as quickly as possible.”

The ominous message left fans to wonder how Rotten Tomatoes will be determining that a low score is “hate speech.”

What if someone genuinly do not like it? I mean how do see the difference between someone giving it a bad rating and someone "sabotaging"?

So if I think it is crap I'm racist… That is just plain stupid.

@RottenTomatoes So aka, if the movie #BlackPanther sucks it's going to be considered hate speech lol. It's probably loaded with SJW crap anyway lol. Yet they're allowing a lot of the racebaiters to tell anyone not black not to go see it because it's their culture, hmm.

Far-left Huffington Post picked up the story and labeled the Facebook group “Alt-Right” for its fans noting dissatisfaction with feminism being pushed into their beloved stories.

Once the “Alt-Right” label was applied to the cinephiles and fanboys, Facebook administrators deleted the event, as well as the movie group “Down With Disney’s Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys” with no recourse.

Black Panther opens Presidents Day Weekend and its projected earnings are between $120 to $150 million.
