But it was alright when FM decided to do another "cash grab" tour INSTEAD of finishing the record FIRST...

Considering they didn't want to chance Christine backing out or John being out of remission, yeah I think this is a good time to do a tour.

They are all excited, they're all healthy...It's absolutely the right time.

Nope, never said that. Would have liked them to finish the record first. Then tour.

I would love a new Fleetwood Mac album with Lindsey and Christine, without Stevie. I think the musical partnership between Lindsey and Christine is one of the strongest elements in this band, and we haven't heard anything from this partnership in a long, long time. If Stevie isn't on the new album, it gives the Lindsey/Christine duo more space to shine.

To imply it can't be Fleetwood Mac without Stevie is just absurd. It can't be Fleetwood Mac without Mick and John; in this band, everyone else is a temp.

Fleetwood Mac can easily exist without Stevie they will just be incredibly less profitable playing 3,000 seats @ $125.00 for front row...

Hm. The idea has never sounded more appealing to me.

you are so funny, posting this similar comment all over the place.

LB solo was playing those kind of venues his last 2 tours, so how could that be true for FM? and i can tell you, almost nobody recognizes his name. everyone has at least heard of this legendary band, Fleetwood Mac, while they may be unfamiliar with who exactly are the band members.

without Christine (and with Stevie!), just a year ago, Fleetwood Mac was playing 80% full arenas for less than $100 for floor ticket. with Christine, now, they are playing sold-out arenas, same ones as last year, for more than $200 for floor ticket. do the math.

without Stevie, FM would be less commercial, but less stuck in a rut and far more prolific, as their recent recording sessions make it quite clear.

i expect that most people on these boards are huge fans, who care about output and having new music and seeing [different] live shows more than about whether these multimillionaires will make a bit more money.

And she can go back to playing casinos, selling 20K albums and looking ridiculous on American Horror Story.

It seems Stevie is not co-operating. What exactly is the reason for this? She is so happy Christine is back and yet she doesn't seem to want to have a long term commitment to Fleetwood Mac as a productive band.
Things don't seem good between her and Lindsey at the moment. Has she now just reached the point where she genuinely hates being with Lindsey and just doesn't want to work with him? Does she just not want to be committed to a band anymore? Has she just lost all confidence in her songwriting ability? Does she just want to focus on her legacy as a solo artist?

There are two reasons why musicians do solo work; either because their ego leads them to want to be a big star in their own right, or secondly for artistic reasons. Undoubtedly Stevie originally went solo for artistic reasons as she didn't get the album space for her huge creative output. At some point that became more of an ego thing. Surely as far as ego is concerned an individual would feel better playing huge arenas for massive ticket prices as part of one of the biggest acts of all time rather than the smaller, non-sold out gigs she gets solo. With FM she is a huge star. On her own she's a star, but not really that big.

In short, where exactly are we at?

It has taken her decades to find another producer who can help her bring her solo songs to their potential. And going into the studio and making a solo album is actually an ENJOYABLE experience.

Why would she give that up? She doesn't need the money and she is running out of time. Doing a Fleetwood Mac album means doing another tour and putting off more solo work. She is tired of dropping everything for Fleetwood Mac.

She likes making albums with Dave and Waddy.

But these days, all she does is moan (okay, its not quite all she does) about making albums because nobody wants to buy them. At least with a band she only needs to give up a small number of songs rather than invest her emotional commitment to a whole album's worth of material. In terms of sales, surely she knows slightly more people will be interested in new Fleetwood Mac music than new Stevie Nicks music.

Can everyone just calm down! Stevie will join FM soon, she hasn't had the time right now. She is on tour with FM and doing press for herself so she has no time to record with FM. Don't expect her to record with them over the holidays either. Not trying to mean, just saying.

So TISL sold something like 650k copies and Say You Will sold like 850k. Whoopie. What a couple thousands of albums to a person who used to selling millions. The new Fleetwood Mac album would be extremely lucky to just go Gold. Tom Pettys album was 1 on the album charts and it is still not gold.

She doing this for artistic reasons. She needs more money like she she needs another hole in her nose.

Thank you! It's astonishing to me how this can be the most popular thread for weeks on end when nothing has changed in months. Yes, she used the break to rush out 24KG, but tour rehearsals started over 3 months ago, and the've been on tour since the end of September, and more dates keep rolling out. There's really nothing new to say about Stevie's cooperation, or lack thereof, and there won't be until the middle of next year. Excuse my soapbox, but I'm off to read the more interesting threads.
