I don't have insight into the details of the story, but in the 1978 book "Fleetwood Mac - Rumours n' Fax" by Roy Carr and Steve Clarke, they mention in the early '70s Peter Green "making hit-and-run appearances with a small-time Santanaesque group called Little Free Rock (with whom one of the authors occasionally gigged)." So there's most likely at least some truth to the story related on that Little Free Rock website. Martin Celmins does mention in his book that in 1971 Peter was reported to be looking for musicians to play on a second solo album - maybe this ties into the story on the website.
