Oh yeah! Starting my Countdown till the show...
I looked at the venue website--not many tickets left in this Time Bomb Town. Some available in the rear balcony on far sides and a pair of tickets at Stubhub on the floor L side.

The show was excellent! The venue was filled and everyone (from what I could tell) was into it. I was in the 3rd row center on the aisle. I've never been to this place before and we drove past it the first time. No marquee sign (bummer). I always take a picture of the sign with the artist's name on it but not this time. No changes in the set list. A few girls in the 1st row had A Rock Away Blind sign. I would love to hear this live. I enjoyed all the songs, even the ones we've heard a gazillion times. Lindsey sounded good--the band sounded good. He was his usual interactive self. The show ended at 10:30pm. On my way home now. Will post more tomorrow.

We had M&G tickets so we were there early. Probably 40-50 people there for M&G. You line up to show your ticket then they give you a wrist band and distribute the M&G merch. Back in line and further into the venue with a little wait time near the merch table. No keychains. A drink koozie, few t-shirts, zip up hoodie, tote bag and cd's (the single and 3cd version), a larger poster without the tour dates on it. I'm sure everyone is familiar with the VIP merch from looking at his website. Next we go back stage from a side entrance. We move past his guitars which are labeled with songs. Now I'm starting to get excited! I can see a backdrop set up and the camera guy. Periodically we're told no photos/no autographs. I brought stuff with me but didn't get anything signed. They moved us along at a steady pace.

When I approach Lindsey he says hello. I say hi and I tell him how much I'm enjoying the solo anthology esp the 2 new songs. He smiles and says thank you. I continue saying how much I appreciate him being so accessible to the fans, for example twitter (I'm not on twitter but I can still read the tweets) and doing the M&G and I hope it doesn't cut into his quiet time before the show. He laughs and says "no I have plenty of quiet time--it's my pleasure'. He's relaxed and warm. He puts his arm around me for the picture. My sig other (Mark) walks up and says hi, Lindsey says hi and they shake hands. I'm still there and Mark asks if the 3 of us can get a pic. The camera guy says yeah and takes the pic. Then Lindsey asks "what's with the table?". There is a table in front of the camera guy for people to place their belongings instead of holding them during the picture taking. The funny part about this is he asks Mark, not the camera guy. So Mark says "it's for purses", Lindsey says "oh" and Mark says "I left mine in the car". Lindsey and the camera guy laughed loud. Finally Lindsey says "we'll see you both later" and we are led off the stage. We had a few minutes with him but it went by fast. We never felt rushed by him or like he wasn't fully engaged with us. People were walking all over the place, talking into they're walkie talkies and yelling back and forth. I really wanted him to sign something but I didn't try--too many eyes and I didn't think I'd get away with it. Afterwards we're talking with other VIP's and everyone is sharing their M&G experience.

The best way for me to describe the show is that it felt like home. Some of you may have read my review of the FM6 Chicago show. If not, the short version is my sig other surprised me with a ticket after I emphatically refused to go. He felt I needed to experience it for myself after being a life long fan and that I would regret not seeing the "new version" at some point in the future. So I went and it was different with a capital D. Some things were good but not good enough to get me over the hump. Anyway, Lindsey's show felt like home--the way a FM show used to feel--the way the BuckVie shows felt. I loved hearing the familiar standbys and the songs that have never been played live or at least not in a long time. Truthfully I would be okay if he ditched some of the regular rotation songs (except Tusk. I must have this song) but I always enjoy them. For some reason the end on Tusk and ISA seemed a teeny bit shorter to me. The show flew by as I soaked up every song. These versions of Go Insane and Trouble are so much fun. Don't Look Down, Doing What I Can, Slow Dancing and Turn It On were real highlights for me. And of course ending with Treason.

He made remarks about assembling the anthology/set list and how coherent his body of work is. There were shout outs for a few of his FM songs. A guy yelled "F Stevie Nicks" but he didn't respond until later in the show . At one point he brought up the situation by saying "you just have to accept" and "everything happens for a reason' and "we're making a new start, thank you for being part of it". Massive support and energy from the audience. Only saw people sitting down during Street of Dreams. Excellent show from start to finish.

I'll post some pics over the weekend.

I felt very similarly (and also reviewed the United Center show) and I pretty much lost my mind during GYOW because I was just needing that so badly. I had a great row at United Center who were standing and dancing and so happy most of the show which helped my energy though I’ve stated trying to explain to them (they were all first time FM concert attendees) what was missing without LB was tough. And during LB’s songs at United Center I was singing along just trying to get into it, trying to tune out Neil Finn really but hearing Lindsey do GYOW last night, I think it was even better than I’ve ever heard it. And for a minute I could close my eyes and it was like none of the drama and breakup had ever happened.

And I think that’s what he was going for really. GYOW was the last song before the encore. He did I’m So Afraid right before (and was it Mevwr Going Back or Tusk right before that? We definitely got three of his Mac songs in a row there). Notably he didn’t do his stage run thing for “I’m so Afraid” and saved it for GYOW. He did his guitar banging and air kicks then too. It was like he knew that song was going to go over so well and maybe even had a little something to prove? So he saved his energy a bit and knocked it out of the flipping park. Truly incredible show all around but watching all he poured into GYOW just blew me away. I said this on Twitter as well but for all the discussions I’ve seen here about how everyone is aging and the effects aging has had on vocals and such- holy hell, Lindsey is ageless and has certainly fared better than Stevie and Christine (which isn’t a diss to them at all, just a noticeable reality). I know I’ve been at FM shows where my friend (who was with me last night!) and I, in our early 30s remarked at how Lindsey has more energy than both of us put together but somehow he was even better last night.

I posted a Tusk clip on Instagram. Though Instagram trimmed it down to the first minute. Tried to tweet a Big Love clip but it vanished. I’ve got lots more and some photos and stuff on my camera as well. October has been a crazy month but hopefully I’ll get them up soon.

I’m so jealous I didn’t get to do the Meet and Greet. I confess I was so upset about everything happening I kind of stepped away and tuned out for awhile because I just didn’t know how I felt about anything. But I’m so glad I got to attend this show especially. And I also have to say Lindsey was just so grateful. He kept lifting his guitar and pointing to the crowd and just having these moments of gratitude that were really special and genuine. World of difference from the FM6 show (which I remarked did poorly at audience engagement and everyone in the band kept turning away from the crowd to look at each other as if they were in their own bubble. Something about that was a bit offputting to me. Seeing Lindsey’s displays of gratitude was frankly healing from the hurting fam perspective).

My friend and I were also surprised by how tiny the Athenaeum main stage is (we had both been before but not the main stage). It may be the smallest venue I’ve been for anything besides tiny local plays. I think he honestly could’ve probably done a larger venue. Chicago seems to be good to all of them. But how incredible then to see such an absolute legend and incredibly talented musician and singer at such an intimate show. It was everything I wish the FM tour could’ve been/be and better. And i saw Buckingham/ McVie at a poorly selling show at a MI casino (casino actually gave free tickets to anyone with a players club card. And I then talked my way up into a better seat). I think it may have been an off show for them because I praised Christine at United Center and Lindsey was also so much more enjoyable last night. I enjoyed B/M but I was over the moon last night.

Also, as far as the fan who shouted “F Fleetwood Mac” I tweeted last night that someone else shouted “Its your song, Lindsey!” At the start of Never Going Back. Also heard various comments spoken more quietly around me (and made a few myself) about FM and just generally massively in support of LB. I think one woman near me shouted “You don’t need them” or something to that effect and several others turned to her with “Amens”. There was no love lost to FM in the crowd last night. And frankly it was obvious which was the better show. By a long shot.

And uh... I may have remarked to my friend that it’s a shame Stevie never let him talk much at concerts because I absolutely loved hearing his thoughts and comments on the songs and all.

That all said, should he perform “Hunger” at any of his upcoming shows will someone shoot me a PM or a link to any recordings so o don’t miss it? I’m kind of obsessed with that song and was so hoping he’d do it. It feels like a FM song to me and I may have missed if anyone has more info on the song or Lindsey has said much but I’ve been wondering if it’s one he may have been holding onto for the band. Or at the very least if it was written around the time of the Say You Will album because it seems like it would’ve fit great there. But hey no complaints and I’m so glad he got the song out on his anthology because it’s amazing. Just can really hear a FM vibe in it. (And I may be one of the few but I’ve always adored Say You Will). I just may never get over the band never making a final album...

Thanks for the great reviews.

Lindsey seems stuck on not deviating from "Not Too Late". It's a great song (and makes sense in the initial part of the tour), but here's hoping he eventually breaks out "Rock Away Blind" or some of those other alternatives as the tour progresses.

Less than a month now till I see the show in Birmingham.

Probably a terrible idea, but I'm tempted to come up with an interesting pose for the m&g photo (random example: ramming heads together like in Tusk).
I challenge any ladies out there who are doing a m&g to get a photo with him in the Mirage pose.

It's like the holidays. You eat basically the same food (some special favorites that you only get once a year), you visit basically the same people and go to basically the same places. There's some variation from year to year with familiar routines but you never get tired of it. It's always exciting and you always look forward to it.

I heard some of those remarks as well as "don't go back again". I'm with you on the venue size, the stage was so shallow the drums were kind of on the side. Relaxed place though-we took our merch out to the car before the show started. No hand stamping or anything. Try that at a big venue.

At the United Center show the guy next to me (guessing late 20's) was excited about seeing FM/his first time. I asked if he knew Lindsey had been fired---nope! I showed him info about Lindsey's show on my phone and suggested he check it out. We talked about low cost, intimate venue, high energy, interactive with the audience. I told him he would not be disappointed. He enjoyed the FM show esp when Mick came out with his drum. Afterwards I reminded him that Lindsey was replaced by 2 musicians and seeing Lindsey solo would give him a fuller picture of what the Rumours line up is like and he seemed receptive. His friend was enthusiastic about it too so hopefully they saw Lindsey's show.

Now compare this exchange with the guy behind me at the United Center. He thought Lindsey quit because he didn't want to tour so we discussed that. Then we talked about how many times we've seen FM (both of us multiple times) and Lindsey solo (me multiple--him never). I told him about the show this week. He already knew about it and said "yeah, but Lindsey's for the......(he's searching for the right word with furrowed brow)....aficionado". This guy was as relaxed as could be but he shifted in his seat while talking about Lindsey. The body language was uncomfortable and really interesting to me. Plus the way he described Lindsey made me smile. He just had no interest in a Lindsey show despite my glowing praise.

Photos & Review: Lindsey Buckingham at Chicago’s Athenaeum Theatre
On October 18, 2018 By William Fanelli
Lindsey Buckingham at the Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago 10/17/18

Fans flocked to the Athenaeum Theatre last night for a solo performance by legendary singer-guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. The Oct. 17 show took place less than two weeks after his fellow (and now former) Fleetwood Mac bandmates took the stage at Chicago’s United Center but band differences (and a subsequent lawsuit) couldn’t hold Buckingham back and, in fact, there was a feeling of freedom in the air as the artist explored the boundaries of rock with an expansive, well-rounded setlist packed with inspired tunes, youthful energy and dazzling musicianship.

The setlist, which Buckingham called “cathartic to curate,” spanned the artist’s expansive catalogue, weaving together an eclectic yet cohesive concert experience for listeners. The bulk of the artist’s solo records were represented over the course of the evening, some of which amounted to the night’s most engaging moments. Lynchian lullaby “Street Of Dreams” creeped quietly through the venue while “Shut Us Down” packed a powerful punch with its driving vocals, impressive fingerpicking and a bit of interpretive handiwork from Buckingham.

Buckingham inarguably came to play last night. His guitar work was in top form, as were his vocals… utterly guttural one moment, vulnerably tender the next. High energy renditions of Fleetwood fan favorites like “Tusk” and “Go Your Own Way” — the latter which saw the singer enlist folks in the front row to help strum his guitar — had the crowd dancing and singing along, while softer tracks like the goosebump-inducing “Never Going Back Again” entranced the theater in waves of introspection.

The intense and noisy rendition of “I’m So Afraid,” one of the many highlights of the night, built slowly before peaking with a mind-blowing, deceptively-effortless solo by Buckingham while the playful National Lampoon’s Vacation theme “Holiday Road” offered a lighter juxtaposition to the night’s more serious material. Other notable moments included the ultra-primal performance of “Big Love,” which saw the frontman crafting more distinct sounds with a single strum of the guitar than thought humanly possible.

Last night’s midwest performance — part of a larger solo tour spanning the U.S. from now until late December — was in support of the Buckingham’s newly-released Solo Anthology: The Best of Lindsey Buckingham. The singer expressed his unbridled enthusiasm for the new album, noting the exciting opportunity it presented for him and his band to perform some of the songs that previously never really got a chance to shine in a live setting. “Surrender The Rain” and the title track from 1984’s Go Insane, both of which were a big hit with fans, come to mind.

Buckingham continues his U.S. Tour with a show tonight at Carnegie of Homestead Music Hall in Homestead, PA. And while some of us are already mourning Fleetwood Mac as we knew it, “you have to accept,” said Buckingham. “Look at things in a positive light. I still love those people.”
