Actually, they were right in the middle of TOURING & promoting "Rumours" when this song was written. Sharon Celani has stated, in several interviews, that on the night she met Stevie in late 1977, she arranged to have a piano delivered to Stevie's Beachhouse in Lahaina. The song was written that night and Stevie was prompted to ask Sharon if she would be her background singer someday if she ever produced a solo record. No brainer for Sharon, i'm assuming.

The demo came from a master reel labeled "Film Score" from 1978 so I guess we can assume that the demo was recorded a year later with both Sharon and Lori. A lot of people thought that this was one of the "Rhiannon" songs since the other songs on this master reel include "Rhiannon", "Forsaken Love" and I think "Maker Of Birds".

Anyway, this is the only demo that exists of this song (or at least the only version that the hard-core fans know of) and I've never heard her mention it being considered for any other project. I fell in love with it MANY, many years ago and am overjoyed that it is finally going to see the light of day!

"Lady" I like, but she shouts the whole second half of the song instead of singing it. I was never mad on "The Dealer" demo anyway, but her nasally vocal has really put me off.

First time I've ever not been freaking out over a Stevie release in my entire life.
I can certainly understand your concern. I'm not crazy about "The Dealer", and I'm not feeling some of the snippets. But, to be fair, I can't judge an entire album based on snippets. Thus, I will hold out until October. I do LOVE the "Blue Water" snippet. Plus, we haven't heard "Watch Chain" and "Cathouse". So, let's be patient. I just hope that 24 Karat doesn't suffer from the rushed job syndrome. Especially considering that I think "In Your Dreams" to be her best record since "Bella Donna"----it was a true classic!!

Thanks for this info! I always thought it was pre-Rumours! I assume this was a different trip than the one Stevie and Christine took during the recording of the album?

Correct. Like Sharon stated, this was LATE '77 while on break from the Rumours Tour.
