Default Admit it... Who watched DALLAS? J.R.'s Back!

The best night time soap opera is back.
Yes, of course I'm talking about Dallas.
The two hour premiere was tonight on
TNT. While I hope the focus will be more
on the original characters, it still turned
out pretty good (for what it is).

Anyone watch it?

J.R. Ewing and Roger Thorpe. It's too bad
these characters never met on screen.

I loved Dallas! I actually went to Suouthfork Ranch when I was in Texas last uyear and it was a fantastic morning! You can walk virtually all round the grounds unsupervised after getting a little tour and some information from the guide, who was very fun!

There was only a tiny part of the ground we couldn't go through because they were filming some exteriors for the new show. Exciting! I'll upload some pictures later.

So, in short, I'm VERY excited about the remake! I was very dubious until I heard that Larry Hargman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray were back too.

All I have at home is a digital antenna (don't watch much tv), so I haven't seen the new episode. But I cannot WAIT to see this remake. Hopefully it's somewhere online where I can stream it once I get back from vacation.

I used to LOVE Dallas. Watched the first half of the premier last night. Not impressed so far.

tho i am more of a 'knots landing' fan (JR's brother gary was on it) i did watch 'dallas' back in the day~ i thought the new 'dallas' was fantastic & was happy to see the new characters, but mostly to see all the people they brought back~ & i loved that the opening theme song was basically the same, a newer version, but the same~

It's cool to know all you Ledgies watched Dallas.

For those who missed it, I think you can watch it
also from TNT's website. They had full episodes of
some of their shows available.

I heard it did very well in the ratings. And as cheesy
as it might be, I'm surprised the networks passed on
the chance to air it.

Larry Hagman looked like death warmed over. I guess
he's lucky to still be around with all his health problems
through the years.

I think it might be available free on Comcast On demand TV .I have not check it yet
.The 4 networks are busy with crap reality shows and boooorrring sitcoms .By right CBS should of pick the show up.It was on CBS on fridays at 9pm.Now they got CSI NY at 9pm.Which I like that show .Undercover Boss show could be dumped.CSI at 8pm .Dallas back at 9pm where it belongs.I hope the trend of reality crap shows will end .but it seems like more popping out from everywhere.

Larry Hagman A great actor. He is the same age as my dad was.

To come think about it.I wonder if they going to make J.R. more of a prick at his old age the he was 30 years ago.

I watched. Lots of errors.

1. Southfork was signed over to Bobby in season 13, while Ellie was alive. The will would't change that.

2. It was Bobby James Ewing from the start, never Robert.

3. Southfork is in Braddock, not Dallas.

Christopher was adopted by Bobby and Pam. His biological mother is Kristen, Sue Ellen's sister and the one who shot JR. She had blackmailed a few men, including JR, saying they were the father. After she was found dead in Southfork's pool, a man named Jeff Faraday tried to blackmail JR via Bobby, however, Bobby was on to his game and offered to buy the baby outright. When Bobby got back to Southfork with the baby, he was greeted by Pam, who had been in a psych ward after becoming so depressed about not being able to have kids that she attempted suicide, and she thought Bobby got the baby for them. It turned out Faraday, who had been murded by then, was the father.

I loved it!!! I thought they did a good job tying the old to the new, introducing the new storyline. Best of all, it felt more like the original "Dallas" and not that schmaltzy, slick thing it became towards the end.

Others I noticed:

The S and F in the Southfork logo was connected orginally. That's a brand for the cattle - it wouldn't have changed either.

John Ross was never blonde as a child as the picture on JR's table showed.

Watched the second part of the premiere last night. Very disappointed. The young actors (esp. John Ross) are trying too hard, IMO. I won't keep watching.
