I've developed a SERIOUS girlcrush on Miss Kat Von D..

Maybe it's my desire to emulate her look, but there's something soooo gorgeous about her. She's like, clasically beautiful, and the fact that she's so tattooed adds edge to her look. She's awesome.

Kat is ****ing rad. Her tattoo work is out of this world as far as I'm concerned.. I haven't seen any artist that can 1-up her on portraits. There are other really awesome portrait artists out there that are maybe kind of on her level.. but not better. She's wicked with the greyscale and lettering for sure.

I adore her work. There are two tattoos I want to eventually have her do..

One is this picture of Joe Strummer, on my shoulderblade, with maybe a few nautical stars:

& then, I want one of a ball and chain wrapped around one of my ankles, with "love is like a ball and chain" written in that script she uses, kind of laying on top of the chain.

Those two alone will cost me about $1200, but it will be worth it. I'm saving up to go to LA on my 18th birthday to get one of those tattoos done by her. She is just so amazing.

nice. did you book an appointment with her? i think she stays booked for like, a year at a time. freakin' crazy. i still haven't found the right artist for my work. i know i'm just being picky, but i want to make sure it's perfect.

Not yet. She says that she only books up to two months in advance, so I'll have to wait until early 2008 to book it. Right now, I'm looking for good artists in NYC so I can get my sparrow tattoo in July. Blah.

That surprises me a little bit. I read on another board that someone couldn't get an appointment with her for a year.. maybe I misread it.

Either way. I'm sure the work is much more expensive than getting it somewhere else, but it will definitely be worth it.. if for no other reason than being able to say it was done by one of the best.
