I would much rather listen to Sugar Daddy than Oh Daddy. Sugar Daddy is cute, mindless fun in the same vein as Just Crazy Love, whereas Oh Daddy is such a depressing dirge.

I agree completely.

Know why Sugar Daddy and Think About Me are favorites? THE BEAT. They're fun, and rocking.

Yup! His voice makes the song for me.

In fact, as much as I enjoy the outtakes and alternative versions, the band made the right choice with the versions they used. The one exception for me is "Second Hand News." I prefer the bass line used on the earlier take.
I totally agree with this. I love many of the outtakes and alternative versions, but they choose the final versions perfectly.

I'm always puzzled by the "Oh Daddy" dislike myself. It's one of my favorite Christine songs.

I love Oh Daddy! It's atmospheric and haunting. I have the instrumental and she hits that piano so hard on the low D. uhhhhh it goes right thru me.

Absolutely. I like her version the least.

On Rumours, Songbird and Oh Daddy should have been removed and replaced with Silver Springs. Not having a Buckingham track on side 2 of Rumours was ridiculous.

Not only NO but h*** NO
If you were going to fit Silver Springs on Rumours - I don't want to know and Never going back again should have been removed.

I wasn't aware that Sugar Daddy had a beat, but I agree with you on Think About Me.

The minutes and hours that dreary song has taken out of my life. When I lay dying, I will mourn them.

Well, Mick says it's one of his favorites, so I guess that makes up for something.

Egads, Batman!

Not a chance!

Oh, but here's a very unpopular opinion: as good as Silver Springs is on paper, Stevie's vocal on the original studio version is weak. The band made the RIGHT choice to go with IDWK because an upbeat duet with LB's vocals fit better into the running order.

The Dance version of Silver Springs is excellent, a classic, in fact, miles better than the original.

Chiffons are way more annoying than Stevie. Which is a feat in and of itself.
Warm Ways is a beautiful song.
Stevie should have had more songs on the White Album
I am not crazy about Blue Letter.

I concur that Stevie's vocal on the original Silver Springs was weak. It has always sounded like a rough outtake to my ears versus a fully fleshed and completed vocal. Especially when you compare it to her songs that did make the cut... Dreams & Gold Dust Woman most notably. Those vocals were fat & juicy. Silver Springs was thin & reedy.

But yes, the Dance version is a force of nature. It was perhaps the last passionate recorded vocal of Stevie's career.
