Are videos necessary these days? Especially for artists like Stevie Nicks. Why not just concentrate on the music.

Videos create momentum on the internet/social medie - just another way to promote the music and get people listening.

Generally speaking I agree. But how much traction can a video Stevie Nicks makes get? What sites would the masses tap in to, to get exposure to this video and hear her new song? Actually any video she makes these days may detract from the appeal of the song itself. Just by reading some of the comments made by the diehard fans here, I'm sure the criticism would be much harsher from the casual viewer.

If it was a really well-constructed and interesting video, probably quite a lot. Such a video could get a lot of people talking. And that's obviously what they thought they made. Creators of content aren't always the best judges of these things, but you can't blame them for trying. And it's not like they poured weeks of time and thousands of dollars into this. Why not go for it?

I'm sure it was uncomfortable for her without her mic as well.

Great point !!!!! A big microphone stand with long, colorful, flowing, dancing, cascading ribbons and sassy little trinkets is like a security blanket for Stevie. She seldom walks onstage without it.

Yes I'm sure we would have more fluid movement and interpretation not only for Stevie but for her fans.

Honestly, I think casual fans would just be excited about it. And people who don't care one way or the other for her will just continue not caring one way or the other. Stevie herself said it, "The people, they love her, and still they're the most cruel." It's really the biggest fans who are her harshest critics. I guess because we want the best for her, and we expect more from her because we know she's capable of giving it.

I agree. And it's just sad that a lyric video is more impactful than the offical video.

well I kind of think that the Video has a meaning: that she's singing to an empty theatre, which is the way she sees her and Lindseys career panning out.
That she'll be singing to no-one and knocking on doors forever......

Yes the you-tubers seem to love it. I scrolled through the comments and couldn't find a negative one. 354 thumbs up, and only 4 down.

Interesting how differently it's being received on here, compared to youtube

All my friends who saw the video loved it. (I love it too but I do wish it had more angles).
