How much money does each individual band member take home a night?

Pollstar, the concert industry publication, will announce today (Friday) the Top 100 grossing tours at the halfway point of the year. They did release the Top 5 for North America and Britney Spears is number-one with just over 61-million dollars; Fleetwood Mac is second with just under 55-million; Elton John and Billy Joel's Face-to-Face outing is third with 52-million; and the Eagles are fourth with 43-million. Celine Dion rounds out the Top 5 with 42-point-six-million.

On the worldwide touring scale, AC/DC (pictured) was number-one with 150-point-six-million followed by Tina Turner (83-million), Britney Spears (74-million), Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band (60-million) and the Eagles (60-million).
At $55 million, there was some money made because there were 45 shows (I presume all 45 shows are included in this number). I know many of the shows were poorly attended. So, I wonder what the sell out figure would have been -- maybe $65 million. I also wonder what the break even point was because the suits clearly considered that not all shows would sell out and $1.22 million per show (55/45) seemingly would be more than a break even point. Therefore, my conclusion that money was made seemingly is supported even if the band members took in $800,000 a show ($200,000 x 4).

Note - I am just speculating.

Also, I wonder if this number considers the merch. sales, which can reach over $100,000 a show on a good night.

On edit - per the link manman posted - it was an average of $1,053,846 per show and 53 shows.

Interestingly, FM's $97.00 average ticket price was nowhere near the top level. So, though the higher end tickets were pricey, the average ticket sale per concert was seemingly a reasonable value. This affirms my prior posts that the concert was priced for the economy and people struggling could go. They just had to sit in a cheap seat.

I don't think it does... I'd like to know if the merchandise is shared with the venue and promoter, or if it's gravy for the band after costs of producing it? Also... Isn't there some sharing in the concessions sold at the venue between the venue/promoter/band? Or is that strickly for the venue?

I think they made money too, the promoters and the band...

In Atlanta, different school group parent associations and the like usually run the concessions and keep the tips as a way of fundraising at some of the venues. So, I don't know. I imagine that like movie theatres and ball parks, most concert venues make their money in concessions - think $15 beer. so, maybe there is some kind of payout for concessions, but I doubt it. Maybe someone here knows the answer.

I don't know. Again, I'd like to see the projected rev. stream based on expected actual capacity as surely, their pocket protector wearing accountants and other financial peeps surely did not base actual profit on sell out only crowds. Rather, any sort worth their salt projected profits on way less than sell out capacity considering this market, no record to promote, fairly recent market saturation by La Nicks and LB solo, and so on. Similarly, the price point of the tickets and number of tickets at each level presumably was set on this model as well. In other words, they make more money selling X number of tickets at an average price of $100 per ticket than Y number of tickets at $95 per ticket.

One thing is for sure though - they would have liked to have sold better in almost all markets.

Also just speculating here, but i seriously doubt this tour would be continuing if each of the 4 of Fleetwood Mac were earning $200,000 per show. My guess would be perhaps Lindsey gets the same, and that the guarantee for Mick and John might, maybe, be half, for a combined $600,000 band salary. I'd also assume that Stevie pays the backup singers salaries. Perhaps Lindsey covers the musicians he brings, and Mick the added drummer. John probably won't have to pay for anything
I just can't see a promoter willing to pay $800,000 per night for the four together and be able to earn any profit.
Also, I wouldn't count on a fraction of $100,000 per night in merchandise, the swag is pretty grim this tour, and generally I've seen very little merchandise purchased the last several Stevie and Mac tours. The best night I ever did see for long lines of people buying stuff was at Stevie's Jones Beach Show in '07 that was flooded and so cold, the hoodies and blankets were flying off the shelves. If there had been Stevie Nicks socks and shoes, I would have bought those, also! I was miserable, and freezing, that night for the 12 song set (one or two songs were cut) Ringing out my socks in the fourth row and shivering all night was no fun! The socks and I recovered, my shoes were a loss. June of '07-- or was it '06? But the concert clips on YouTube do look incredible. I guess it was a good show!

^^

During the SYW tour - there was a big discussion here about who gets paid what. I can't find the thread. But, it was pretty interesting and many people who used to post here and were on the inside of the business had some great insight.

Also - John and Mick own the band. So, I think they'd likely insist on a high payment.

But, who knows for sure.

Wow. I expected Baltimore to do far better than that, since DC was arguably the most successful non-Canadian date of this year.

Its pretty obvious (if you do the math) that all three had a significant amount of discounted tickets- especially the completely unnecessary MSG gig.

Hey Luke, Overall how does this compare to the numbers they did in 1997 (Dance).

Did they run 100% on that 40 date tour?

The Dance tour was a massive success- only two or three shows failed to sell out 100% clean, which is outstanding considering that the bulk were at sheds. Lawn tickets being immediately snapped up far in advance for a fall tour shows just how hot of a ticket this tour was. In fact, the only tickets that went unsold were GA lawn tickets. Every reserved seat made available for the '97 tour sold.

Having been at the second MSG show, I'm surprised the number is that high as it LOOKED even less full than that. There were huge chunks of empty seats in the 100, 200 and 300 sections and I don't think they even opened 400 up.
