Excerpt from an interview with Haim

http://www.987fm.com/articles/real-q...haim-11696795/

You guys are often compared to Fleetwood Mac. Growing up, who got to be Stevie?

Danielle: I think I really vonnected to Christine McVie. I feel like when you listen to Stevie, it’s out there and you feel it, and Christine has a more subdued voice and I always felt like I did too. I think I connected to that.

Alana: You’re the Christine and Este’s the Stevie. Can I be the Lindsey?

Danielle: Yeah you can be the Lindsay.

Este: You can be the Lindsay. But then I also get to be Mick Fleetwood.

I love Haim!

Their album is tight as hell. Fleetwood Mac influences everywhere, only more "updated".

From an Esquire article on Haim

http://www.esquire.com/blogs/culture...nyone-can-love

Haim are like Fleetwood Mac in another way. Many credit Fleetwood Mac with the birth of "adult contemporary," that most hated of genres that takes from other genres and makes it palatable to the masses. But Fleetwood Mac also made something unique and beautiful. Lindsey Buckingham's guitar thrashing didn't fight with Stevie Nicks's wistful singing; they resolved into something we can all agree upon. One of the best things about Fleetwood Mac, aside from the harmonies, is that you can walk into any bar in America and put one of their hits on the jukebox. No one will complain. Quite a few people will get that familiar rush of pleasure from a song that never gets old. Haim haven't proven themselves as timeless as Fleetwood Mac, but they pass the jukebox test. Sit down anyone you know and play them the new Haim album — your mom, your grandma, your uncle, your friend who hates everything, your twelve-year-old. If they have a pulse, it's a safe bet that soon enough they'll be nodding along.

Ten Bands Who Got Better (Or Still Ruled) After Their Lead Singer Left

Oct 11, 2013 by chris hampton

Mick Fleetwood and the McVies had recorded nine studio albums before they brought in Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks to replace Bob Welch (who was himself a replacement for Danny Kirwan and Peter Green before him) for Fleetwood Mac's 1975 self-titled album. Instead of plunking down "Rhiannon" or "Landslide" from that album, let's pluck "Go Your Own Way" from the cornerstone of any record collection, Rumours (also one of the best-selling albums of all time) to really demonstrate just how Buckingham and Nicks made this band synonymous with cocaine, L.A., and the self-indulgent maximalism of the '70s. Somehow, I mean each of those things in a good way.

They have fans in high places:

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/why-fr...155344581.html

In the week's issue of The New Yorker, Nicholas Lemann profiles Mary Jo White, with friends and colleagues describing the SEC chair " as the most competitive and driven person they have ever encountered."

Lemann charts the career of the "plainspoken" White, who loves Fleetwood Mac, tennis, and requiring Wall Street bigwigs to acknowledge wrongdoing in SEC settlements.

Reminds me of the Dixie Chicks Landslide fiasco..."Oh I know who Stevie Nicks is she covered that Dixie Chicks song"...
