Wow. So I did monitors for a festival(ran my friend's gear this time - we trade favors, mixing for each other, when we're not booked with our own equipment).
This is a Yamaha PM3000, with 40 channels. Back in the 90's, this was pretty much THE top notch mixer, at pretty much any arena show you saw. I can't find an original list price for them, but I've been told they were around 40K!
Well, so my friend and I are usually pretty gentle, with what we charge each other...so I was going to ask for $400-500. Well, he just dropped 20-25K on a new digital mixer...he said, "man, if you'd be interested in taking this PM3000 off my hands, we'll just swap, EVEN".
EVEN!!!!
How could I say no???? I've searched online, and they sell for between 3-5K!

I would add this to my own equipment, but it is SO HEAVY(it took me an hour to get it into my house, because it's so heavy[I had no help at the time], that I couldn't LIFT it, to get it over the door threshold. It was stuck, and I had to use a floor jack to get it over the threshold!), that I doubt I'll do that.

I love to have that mixer here.I probably have the service manuals for that model on file here somewhere like most other electronics device I probably have the service manual for it.

I love analog recording.

It's funny you'd say that. I had researched using it as a recording console, but read that the pre amps aren't the cleanest, and not ideal for recording. However, it's now sitting literally next to the wall of my studio(in my utility room). I'd considered cutting out that wall, and making it a real control room(but that hasn't been feasible, since I pull a "Lindsey", and I do all the recording and playing, at the same time).

If I can get 3-4K for it, I'll probably sell it. But if I had to take less than 2K, I will turn it into my recording console(I currently use a small 32 channel Mackie).

I wish I could find what the original list price was for these, circa 1990. I've searched and searched, and can't find it, only used prices.

Yes I agree if you put it up against the digital boards.

Yes its the real thing nd the real feel of recording with these boards. You won't get that feeling with the non linear digital recording.

Heres a great forum on recording

If you need any service manuals for your equipment .Let me know.I might have them in my archive.

I can upload them for you .

It was calm out, blue skies and white puffy clouds yesterday and I took a walk. Monday or Tuesday next week might be a different story though with Isaac approaching. I haven't panicked and shuttered up the house just yet and probably going to stick it out unless it gets worse. We're still recovering from tropical storm Debby ripping through here a couple months ago tearing up some beaches and washing away sea turtle nests up and down the coast.

Too bad .those poor sea turtles.

You and the other Florida Ledgies be safe down there. And hope Isaac will turn out to sea.

Last year at this time I was fighting with Irene traveling to and from Stevie shows.

Luckly my house did not have any major storm damage.

We got more damage from that October Ice/Snow storm then from Irene.

One of my computers crapped out saturday morning I have 4 of them online now down to 3.It turns out the Mobo"Motherboard" went bad due to a corrupt bios chip.

With some help from the antique radio forum which that I'm a member.
We conclude that the mobo went bad.I just ordered a new board cheap from a Dell parts depot in Texas.I hope the harddrives are still ok.
