My very first sexual experience was a one-night stand (which is probably a standard gay "rite of passage"). It was physically pleasurable, but emotionally empty, and I decided then and there that I wasn't going to do that again (and never did). I figured if I just needed to get my rocks off, I have my hand.

After that, "third date" became standard. Like Michael said, it helps you eliminate the guys who are just looking to score, from the guys who actually want something more meaningful. Not that the guys who wanted something more meaningful had an automatic "in" -- anyone who was TOO eager for a relationship (talking about "growing old together" after only one date?!? Check, please!) struck out too.

With Joshua and I, we actually knew each other for two years before we fell for each other (it was only long-distance at the time, of course), and it was a little while after that, before the relationship became physical. Hooray for "Frequent Flyer Miles"!

Found out that girl was the sister of another girl I was also 'doing' at the time. Small world aint it? (To me the 'small world' cliche happens WAY TOO MUCH!!!)
