Hmm, maybe we need a TV/reality discussion thread? Just a thought.

That's why I started watching this show because I usually could care less about these reality shows. I love alot of their movies they did when they were young. Kyle was 'Lindsay' in the original classic 'Halloween'. They both got to work with the legendary Bette Davis, too.

As for Kim, I feel bad for her, she has been thru alot as an adult. She was on the phone with her bf/husband in 1991 when he was gunned down in cold blood talking to her on a pay phone, sorry but that has to effect a person.

I don't feel for Camille at all. She started crap left & right and to fire Kyle's husband was a low blow!

I hope there will be a second season but I hear Kim won't be on it & I don't blame her.
The entire original cast is returning--a mistake for Kim, I think. As well-meaning as she was, by the end of the season she came off as a sad drunk, to state it bluntly. I don't think she can present in a way beneficial to herself personally or professionally. Much of that is her sister's doing and I'm always surprised at how many people claim to adore both Kim and Kyle--both came off well in the beginning but quickly destroyed each other, in my view.

I think Camille was misunderstood. Yes, she's completely out of touch and lacking self awareness, but in the end I felt sorry for her, especially the way Kelsey Grammer made her suck it up and keep up appearances for the Tony Awards. Yes, she walked away with a huge chunk of his fortune, but for the rest of her life, she will carry the permanent scar of being rejected in the most horrifying, public manner. And in the Camille vs. Kyle battle, I am on Camille's side. Kyle is a busybody yenta who is always right and never owns up to her lapses in judgment. She needs to be knocked down a peg or three.

I thought Camille was the one who said she wasn't coming back. Kim needs to be on RHW to help nurture her comeback.

Ed, you're killing me here!

You counted Lisa an "independent working woman," but not Adrienne? Don't get me wrong--Lisa might be my favorite housewife of all time, but arranging flowers at her husband's restaurants, bought with family money, does not an independent businesswoman make! Adrienne wasn't exactly self-made either (nor did either of them claim to be), but did seem to work very hard.
Actually, I think Adrienne may have been the savviest housewife ever, with the possible exception of Bethenny. She was there to brand herself and earn publicity for the family, and handled herself with aplomb. I don't think any directors saw Kim Richards and thought, "AHA! She seems stable enough to be my next star!" Adrienne, though, may be the first housewife to make it through a season without saying anything offensive or threatening. Too reasonable to be a favorite of mine, but no denying she played the game well.

Not often does one come across a Camille supporter. I'm...intrigued? Let's go with intrigued.
She lost me in episode 1 when she admitted to having four nannies for her 2 children, both of whom are school aged. Watching a soft-core porn star get high and mighty about Faye Resnick's Playboy spread was breathtakingly hypocritical, but it's her shoddy parenting that made her a serious contender for the most reviled reality star of all time.

Here, here! Specifically a Bravo Reality thread (although the RHW shows are syndicated on other networks around the world). I want to live in a reality where scowling Australian lesbians do salon takeovers and Isaac Mizrahi waxes poetically about "color stories." 24 hours a day. I just can't get enough.

Yeah, Kim did not come off well at all, especially when Kyle read her the riot act in the limo. She went there. Kim has some demons alright, but Kyle's house is not perfectly clean either. She has serious anger management issues. Also, maybe there is some potential with that English man that Lisa introduced to Kim (where is that barf icon again?).

J'adore Lisa! She treads that fine line between English haughtiness and earthiness splendidly. Well, I knew Lisa was a child actress who then went on to open and operate a number of high end eateries with her husband. But I didn't know that she was old money. In any case, she comes across as someone who has it all- career, money, glamor, looks, a close-knit family, etc., yet has worked hard for it and appreciates what she has. I don't get the sense that all of this entitlement was handed to her on a Missoni teaset tray.

On the other hand, Adrienne has the gall to look you in the eyes (with her fixed, frozen, somewhat cross-eyed expression) and declare (with her plumped duck bill lips) that she, who is married to the plastic surgeon, has not had any work done. And even though she doesn't get sucked up into the petty drama of the other housewives (boo!), she becomes quite the bully when it comes to her hopelessly henpecked husband and her kids. Of all the "characters" on the show, she is the one who shows no vulnerability about anything, which makes her something other than endearing. I'd heard that Jillian Barberi was considered as a BH housewife. I so wish she could replace Adrienne Malouf.

I never said that Camille was some kind of vessel of abstract virtue. I just said that I felt sorry for her. Also, despite her lack of common sense or humility, she seems to have the best of intentions, which is certainly more than I can say about Kyle. Regarding Faye Resnick, I think Camille was legitimately offended by some of the things Faye was saying about guests at Camille's own dinner party and was trying to let it be known that such behavior was not welcome in her house. And if I'm not mistaken, Faye was a guest of Kyle, who was stirring up shizz to start with. Plus, soft core porn is one thing. Spreading yourself as if in the midst of a gynecological exam for a magazine is another magnitude of tartiness. Faye deserved every hit she was taking.

In terms of the most reviled reality star, I'll match you and raise you one with Alexis "Jesus Barbie" Bellino. All at once she gives women, Christians... and the entire human race a bad name.

Eh, I can see your point, but they actually struck me as having a pretty functional marriage in spite of the bickering. I think he handled it well, and at the reunion they looked like two people who genuinely enjoy each other. Mileage varies, I guess.

Totally disagree. Faye may be a creep for 50 other reasons, but posing for Playboy doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me
Camille's Skinemax past doesn't particularly bother me, but the hypocrisy did. She should know better than to slut-shame.

Ah, something we can agree on!
There are moments when I feel bad for her--she's dumb as a box of hair and annoyingly smug about her position as the blow-up doll of Taliban Jim, but I do believe that she tries hard to be a decent person.
But then she goes and says things like, "The problem with liberal America is that women think they can do anything in this day and age, including running for president." And I hit the pause button on my DVR and take a few moments to collect myself, lest I throw things at the screen.

So I've owned quite a bevy of sporty cars in my life... 2 DeLoreans, a Chrysler Crossfire, 2 Mitsubishi Eclipses (1 convertible, 1 coupe), a Mustang GT, and an assortment of others... but nothing has ever brought me as much pleasure as my lowly Vespa scooter!

My local scooter club was invited tonight to an advance screening of Larry Crowne... a movie starring Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. It's about a guy who was laid off, bought a scooter to conserve money, got roped into a scooter club, and in the process began really living life for the first time. I totally identified with all these themes in the movie.

Buying a scooter is without a doubt one of the BEST things I've ever done for myself. Scootering takes all the dread out of commuting and running errands, and just makes them plain fun! And the sense of community in a scooter club is like nothing else I've ever seen. It's just fantastic... like a big family with all the fun and none of the drama. Life really is all about the little things.

Haha. While I don't have the heart to commandeer a Bra and ascertain the size personally, my (large) Cat once successfully curled up in one of the cups without looking constricted. Kind of reminded me of the Cat and the Owl poem

Welcome to the room, Sara My family has little income, so we're used to scraping by. I've had it my whole life, so money has very little significance to me. Of course I know it's important for food, bills etc, but beyond that I could take or leave it. God. I'm such a Hippie lol.

Wow you may have sold me on this. I wasn't aware of scooter clubs! I love my Miata but when I see scooters parked in sneaky places I have scooter envy. I wasn't aware of scooter clubs. I really need to get out and meet some new people and this could be a great avenue. Thanks for sharing!

I thought about a scooter since my work commute is only about 5 miles. But it's not really practical anymore when you have a kid.

You have a kid? I missed something!

My commute is 6 miles but it is kind of heinous. There's a rotary (roundabout) that is apparently lawless and I may not survive that on a Vespa.

I found out yesterday that my hours at work got cut from 40 to 30. My workplace is a sinking ship and I'm looking for a better job in a more stable work environment.

May I wish you the best of luck with finding a new job - at least you still have your current job while you are looking!

Thanks...

Yeah I along with seven others had our hours cut. The boss thinks this will be just for a month or so as he expects "something" to happen. Truth be told this kinda stuff has been going on over the past several years so most of us have had enough!

By the sounds of it I'd say you're pretty wise to start that search now - might regret it if you leave it to wait and see!

That sucks. I hope you find something better soon.

On a somewhat related note, looks like the state & the unions are starting to reach some agreements in contract negotiations. Also looks like I will be taking a pay cut for the next 2 years. Oh well, at least I'll still have a job (that I love, btw) as they are supposedly guaranteeing no layoffs.

Most of us are looking for another job. My boss instead cutting hours on staff might just to have a mass hiring if there is mass exodus of employees!
