But I have so many favorite movies that it's ridiculous. My top ones would have to be Heathers, Network, Wendigo, Rocky Horror, and 3 Women. For now, at least.

Interesting List. those are good movies.
I would say All About Eve, Le 'Ete Murtrier, Party Girl.
But i like a million others. Network is actually up there, too, but i've only seen it twice, so...

The two of us could go on all night about our favorite movies. There are just too many to name.

Who's going first?

I am breaking in here and saying Sunset Blvd. is my fav. of all time. Swanson was superb as was the score.

Others include (in no particular order)

Gone With the Wind - Leigh and Gable - SWOON

All About Eve - Bette at her best and Monroe almost steals it from her in the scenes they are in

Out of Africa - Streep at her best

The Nightmare Before Christmas - great execution and clever theme

The Age of Innocence - BRILLIANT

Now Voyager - Oh Davis in melodrama - "I'm not afraid"

Sadie Thompson (remaining reels) - Swanson's best silent IMO

Born Yesterday - hysterical

Lord of the Rings (the trilody) - breathtaking and epic

Star Wars - ground breaking

There are many many more - but those come to mind now

Ok, you know I love your list. Exceptions include Star Wars and LOTR. I know they are good, just not my faves. How could i leave out GWTW?

But, I do have to say...I love Marilyn, but she didn't almost steal anything from anyone. She was just prettier. And - the scene outside Marilyn's failed audition that was really for Eve, when Bette just finds out before she goes in and throws her magnificent tantrum? I barely noticed MM on the screen.

We would so not get along in a video store. I'd go running out the door in an instant.

Oh, and I would like to add "Jezebel" to my favorite movies list...and..."The Letter" - a cheesy masterpiece directed by William Wyler.

I like others as well and most of the ones you listed here and elsewhere.

We would clash only in that I am not a huge Indie fan. The lack of production value in almost all distracts me. Take Garden State - it was a nice movie with BRILLIANT moments (esp. from Jean Smart), but an amateur production. But, I do like some Indies like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, almost all John Waters' films, etc.

Those movies are my bread and butter.

I love every kind of movie, but the stuff Hollywood churns out these days is unbearable to me. It's just so bad.

I think when she says "Well I couldn't say hey butler now could I" or something like that - she is brilliant. But, Davis is pretty hard to eclipse "All that FIRE AND MUSIC" - "I may have seen better days, but I am sure I am not to be had for the price of a cocktail - like a salted peanut"

Also on the list:

Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte - WHAT do you think I invited you here for - COMPANY?" - "You're a mean vile sorry little bitch!"

The Breakfast Club - Ringwold dancing in that one does it for me everytime

The Silence of the Lambs and, though not as much - Hannible - It puts the lotion on its skin

Not all of it - I think there were some recent winners - I think Iris was great (though that was really more of an Indie with a famous cast) - I also liked Ray, Being Julia, the one about the British abortionist, Phantom of the Opera (beautiful music beautiful cast - SHEEBUS ) , Collateral, and a few others. But, yes, there is a lot of junk out there

Jezebel was FAB., esp the end when she "redeems" herself by going to the Yellow Fever Island with the man she loves

As for The Letter - I liked it - but PHEW MELODRAMA

I also like The Lost Weekend and Come back Little Sheba - though they are both hard to watch.

I thought A Place in the Sun was magnificent SOLELY for La Taylor in her first scene in that dress and her completely unware air - PHEW

I also LOVED Whose Afraid of Virginia Wolf - In many ways I lived on a daily basis that entire movie with my ex

LOVE Sweet Charlotte. I like to watch that one, Straight Jacket with Crawford, and The Bad Seed all in a row.

Did you ever read the book for Hannibal? My, how they butchered it for the movie.

Let's see, other favorites are:

Ruthless People - "I've been kidnapped by K-Mart!"
The Saddest Music In the World- Isabella Rossellini is FABULOUS
Dawn of the Dead (remake)- Don't ask me why, but I *love* this movie and it's not because Jake Weber is in it
Don't Look Now- Scary as all get out, the first movie that really freaked me out
Dogville- Loooooooooove this movie
In the Spirit- If I ever met anyone else who has seen this, I'd DIE
Pretty much anything with/by Elaine May
Most Woody Allen movies
