Sometimes I cannot fathom my attachment to this band. They are revoltingly avaricious. If they do tour in 2012, I will be entering every radio contest going, in every country in the bloody world, in order to see them without paying.

I think it's BEYOND time that Fleetwood Mac scale back it's "Big Machine" pompous attitude and realize that they're NOT the "big sh*t" they still think they are. Time to downsize BEFORE they get the big slap in the face. The declining of doing the Clinton party is positive proof. They can't do a set without rehearsing for three weeks? What kinda crap is that? For as long as they've been playing, they should be able to play a 90 minute set by just showing up at the same place at the same time. There's just too much BS in Mac-ville anymore. Their next project should probably be their "Farewell". They're quickly becoming a parody of themselve.

I agree, although I didn't buy the rehearsal thing as LB's legit reason for not doing the Clinton gig. I think he just didn't want to do it and played upon Stevie's fear of being unrehearsed to escape her wrath over rejecting such an 'honour', given the hissy fit she threw over the inauguration.

Oh, you're right. I still feel all Brokeback Mountain I-wish-I-knew-how-to-quit-you about them, though. Maybe it will pass. Maybe I need to go cold turkey for a month.

I agree with every word. The Dance should have been the Farewell Tour. To me, it was. Now they're just beating some old dead horse...

It's been 19 years since "The Chain" came out. They've released just two studio albums, two live albums, and a best-of since. Can we quit being under the illusion they're really a band anymore?

Dead horses sound better than that. I mean how many times can you hear these same songs that get worse everytime they play them.

Somebody help!!!

^^Perhaps it's time for y'all to consider starting an "I Hate Fleetwood Mac" forum. Seriously. I will just never understand why people bother to focus their time and energy on a band that they dislike with such venom.

Stevie Nicks has been a parody of herself since 1981. Doesn't mean she's not glorious.

And as long as they want to play, and people want to hear them, why shouldn't they play? And if they want to rehearse and take it seriously--if they're still that concerned with getting it right and not just drifting through the motions--isn't that impressive?
Don't get me wrong: I think two weeks rehearse for the Clinton show would be absurd. But I don't see how it proves that FM's time is over.

I don't hate them, not at all. Just having a bit of a vent. Probably need SortaSavage to post something amusing in the Stevie photo thread to bring me back.

Actually, you're completely wrong. Fleetwood Mac hasn't been this popular since the Dance. I have young 13 and 14 year old students that are all into Rumours. Ever since the Glee episode, they have been dominating the younger demographic. The album has been in the top 100 albums chart since the episode in May. This next outing will probably be bigger than the last. They are very much still relevant, more today than in the past 15 years.

Maybe you shouldn't focus on understanding Hejira. Maybe you don't understand because you assume wrong. Maybe because we don't hate Fleetwood Mac. I personally can't stand their last few tours and setlist. Loving new Stevie album. Really enjoying GOS and ready to buy LB's new solo album after I digest Stevie's. Further, I have been listening to Mac's albums for 30 years and still pop their songs on. I have great interest in their old and new music. Just can't stomach another Lindsey/Stevie corpse like show of theirs. That's all.

I don't see why everything has to be black & white and mutually exclusive. I am still allowed to love all things Fleetwood Mac prior to 1990, yet abhor what the band has relegated itself to since. It's possible to avidly look forward to new studio work from the band, but eschew all quickie cash grab tours.

Fandom is like a buffet: we all pick out different things we like and feast ourselves on them. We also all have things we don't care for and wish weren't present so that something better could take up it's valuable real estate.
