4 New Beatles News Updates
It is fascinating Nico.I would think the have to try to talk to relatives of Aunt Mimi, that are still alive.Or relatives of John still living in England and talk to others to see if they remember what flowers and plants she had growing in her yard.Maybe they will try to find photographs of the yard to.Even talk to friends that remember what plants were growing in the garden. When John was growing up there.

Prefixmag May 26, 2011 An Angry Letter To The NY Times From John Lennon, Just Because Here's one of those things that makes you realize that the Internet was created for us to trade notable ephemera: A website called Letters of Note published an angry handwritten note from John Lennon to the New York Times after the Times' Craig McGregor wrote a piece called "The Beatles Betrayal" that said that The Beatles stole music from black acts, and got rich doing it. Lennon's rebuttal is angry, but maybe sort of off the point?: http://www.prefixmag.com/news/an-ang...ennon-j/52708/ CNET News May 26, 2011 Paul McCartney archive uploaded to cloud While some brick-and-mortar libraries are converting to robot-style storage systems, Hewlett-Packard has put Paul McCartney's archive of music, video clips, and photos into a digital cloud library.HP launched the private collection with MPL Communications, which the former Beatle founded in 1971, to digitize five decades of McCartney material. It's called the Paul McCartney Digital Library, and it doesn't include Beatles material." I'm back from Abbey Road On The River!!!!! We had a blast. The bands 1964, Revolver, Britbeat, and All You Need Is Love were FANTASTIC!!!! I adore the set-lists and the "John" in both 1964 and Britbeat were phenomenal.
Plus, greatest of all was the "Love" show- a complete live showcase of the "Love" album- Cirque du Solei style. Omg!!!! MsLinds, 3rd World Man...it was amazing!

It is also Ringo's first UK tour since 1998. http://www.muzu.tv/ringostarr Crawdaddy May 25, 2011 A Beginner’s Guide to Paul McCartney By now, you know the ballad of Paul McCartney: Beatles, death conspiracy, Wings, “The Girl Is Mine”, divorces, knighthood, etc. Our Beginner’s Guides intend to inform readers of an artist’s background and context, but in this instance that function is futile. We also try to avoid bold statements about an artist’s catalog. In this case, we’ll abandon that ideal like a peg-legged ex-wife. The be-all-end-all of Paul McCartney’s solo career, the singular work which defines the musician, is his 1976 jam “Silly Love Songs.” http://www.crawdaddy.com/index.php/2...aul-mccartney/ May 30, 2011 UK Beatles tour book now available in the US and Canada A book concentrating on the six UK tours of The Beatles, released last month in Britain, is now available in the USA and Canada.Beatlemania! The Real Story Of The Beatles UK Tours 1963-1965, published by Omnibus Press, brings those fascinating early tours to life through the eyes of a host of eye witnesses.Author Martin Creasy has tracked down 21 pop stars and the lone surviving compere from the tours, plus police who were on duty, music writers and regional reporters and photographers, cinema staff, technicians and hoteliers to tell the real story of what happened when The Beatles exploded in Britain... and there is even the hotelier's daughter who gave up her bed for a Beatle! Perhaps best of all there are fans who were there to recall just what impact The Beatles had when they played their hearts out at theaters in their local high street. Beatlemania! The Real Story Of The Beatles UK Tours 1963-1965 is now available from all good bookshops and the usual internet sites. |

5 New articles and updates
I have a few new articles and updates tonight.
Goldmine Magazine.com June 2011 This Month in Music History: The Greatest Album Ever Made makes its debut By Lee ZimmermanWhen it was released on June 1, 1967, Sgt. Pepper (full name: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band) became the high mark of the Beatles’ trajectory up until that point. Yet, Sgt. Pepper marked more than a musical shift. It was the culmination of a cultural transformation that had begun only a few short years before, one that purposely redefined the band entirely. http://www.goldminemag.com/blogs/thi...akes-its-debut wplj.org June 1, 2011 Ringo Starr Preps European Tour; Says Paul McCartney & George Harrison Wouldn't Join All Starr Band Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band will kick off a 28-date European tour in Kiev, Ukraine on June 4th. Speaking to reporters during a press conference Wednesday, which was broadcast online on Muzu.tv, Starr said it was an easy decision to tour Europe with the same All Starr Band he hit the road with last year -- a lineup that includes keyboardist and vocalist Edgar Winter, “Dream Weaver” singer Gary Wright, guitarist Rick Derringer, and Richard Page of ‘80s group Mr. Mister. http://wplj.com/Article.asp?id=2202217&spid=36851 Vanityfair June 2, 2011 Exclusive Video: The Making of “Coming Up,” from the New Paul McCartney Reissue Paul McCartney, who turns 68 in two weeks, has been a rock star for half a century, a period in the public eye roughly equal to Duke Ellington’s or Louis Armstrong’s, human monuments both, and approaching the six decades Frank Sinatra, undisputed king of the 20th century, spent knocking audiences dead. A quick Google search reveals that McCartney has been a certified “living legend” for even longer than the average Afghani can expect to live, period. How’s that for specious perspective? http://www.vanityfair.com/online/dai...y-reissue.html Looktothestars news June 2, 2011 George Harrison's Sister Wants Fab Fan Memories For Charity The popular Nashville Beatles tribute band The WannaBeatles is joining forces with George Harrison's sister for “Fab Fan Memories”, an audio book featuring songs, stories, recollections and fond thoughts about The Beatles from celebrities and everyday fans.“Fab Fan Memories” will retail for $12, with proceeds supporting Louise Harrison’s newly formed organization, Keeping Music Alive. Harrison’s fundraising arm helps high school and college performing arts organizations raise money for their music departments. The CD, which will be released on Sept. 1, will be narrated by Louise Harrison and include heartfelt and/or amusing introspections by well-known artists such as Phil Keaggy, Janis Ian, Wesley Orbison, Rod Davis (an original member of The Quarrymen) and Ken Mansfield. The project also will feature stories from hardcore Beatles fans and original songs performed by The WannaBeatles. http://www.looktothestars.org/news/6...es-for-charity Prlog.org June 2, 2011 World Famous Beatles Artist Offers Paintings for $500 each to 10 Lucky Fans Shannon – The World’s Greatest Beatles Artist will open the gallery phone lines to callers to buy an original painting at 10% of her usual asking price. In 1998, the title of 'The World’s Greatest Beatles Artist' was bestowed upon Shannon by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool. Ugh, I do NOT agree Pepper is the "greatest album ever made." That is such...bollocks to me. I mean, it's a great album but it isn't perfect. I think the imagery on the album, the time period it was released in, and just the whole era it symbolized has much to do with the status it was given, but in my opinion Pepper isn't even the best Beatles album.
That would have to be...*drum roll* a 3-way tie: Revolver, The White Album, and Abbey Road. But Rubber Soul is nipping at the butts and may join the above as the 4th contender in this tie. I simply don't rate Pepper in the category of the above albums, though A Day In The Life is a magnificent, epic masterpiece...ugh, John's voice on that song= perfection/can't be touched/better than your faves/your faves couldn't even if they wanted to.
