Interestingly, if they are randomly firing guns in a city where you cannot really tell where the shots are coming from and have no apparent law and order - how is he going to chopper into NOLA. My bet is he flies over NOLA out of gunshot range and then makes a speech at the airport, which is relatively abandoned.

Fats Domino Among N.O. Missing

Has anyone else relatively "famous" gone missing? This story actually ticks me off because in a way I can understand not evacuating or trying to get out of New Orleans if you're an adult not wanting to leave your property or your life or whatever. It's stupid, but it's your choice. But to not evacuate with CHILDREN? That's what's incensed me the most about the interviews before it hit and the footage now after- is seeing this people who made the conscious decision to keep their children in this disaster.

OK, I haven't been able to read through the last couple of pages, but the amount of time this is taking to get these people rescued, resources, etc. is embarrassing. We're quick to help the rest of the world, but when it's in our own backyard they drag their feet. Where the hell is the help? Why aren't they being more aggressive? Why don't they drop MRE's from the air? They can do it in other countries.... It's f*cking bull**** the way this is being handled.

He will refer to it in some indirect way during whatever speech he gives while he is there. Watch.

If I wasn't certain we'd both die down there, I'd go with you.

Some didn't have cars. Others were told if they didn't show up to work they'd lose their jobs. Others had no money to go anywhere, especially those on public assistance as they would not get their checks until today.

Hasn't Bush denied help at this point? I thought I heard him saying some thing like, "We'll handle this on our own," or something earlier today.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Fats has a driver - I knew him when I lived there

But, even if they could not drive, they should have gotten on the bus and gone to the dome. That they did not has stalled the rescue attempts of the elderly and disabled who truly could not leave their homes in time. As for the jobs - the entire city was shut down as of Sunday - few if any businesses were open. So, I do not think that was a factor for more than .01% of the people who just thought they could ride it out in their houses.
