Tori Amos doing Landslide is the ultimate Fleetwood Mac cover for me.

Thanks Gazza for posting all the cover versions of FM songs. There are some I had no idea existed - but I'll most definitely be hunting them down now. Particularly the John Frusciante - Landslide - I love his guitar work.

My personal favourite covers would have to be Seaweeds version of 'Go Your Own Way' the songs energy lends itself well to their slightly punk approach.
I love the Smashing Pumpkins version of 'Landslide' very cool.
Camper Van Beethoven 'Tusk' Tribute album is fantastic & I must mention my disappointment in the Rumours Legacy tribute album - this cd lays at the bottom of my cd pile.

Default oh well

Gazza's list is lacking a very heavy Oh well-cover by The Black Crowes feat. Jimmy page on their live-ledzeppelin-cover-album. One of my faves.

Default Oh, God, chiliD's nit-picking again!

Gazza's list also is missing many of the covers on the Rattlesnake Guitar: The Music Of Peter Green album (except it DOES list Ian Anderson's "Man Of The World" & Arthur Brown's take on "Green Manalishi")

Hypnotized - Pointer Sisters (GREAT!)
Hypnotized - Driving Blind (good!)
Black Magic Woman - Dennis Brown (reggae, mon!)
Man Of The World - Midge Ure (really, really good)
Man Of The World - Justin Hayward (as it should, it sounds like the Moody Blues)
Don't Stop - KC & The Sunshine Band (best cover I've heard of this song)
You Make Loving Fun - Cyndi Lauper
Oh Well - (the aforementioned) Black Crowes w/Jimmy Page
Oh Well - Kenny Wayne Shepherd (not that great)
Oh Well - Oh Well (12" single...techno-dance arrangement)
Oh Well - Bob Welch (not sure if it counts, since he's an ex-Mac member)
Oh Well - Billy Sheehan (until Welch's recent cover, only one that covered parts one AND two)
Rattlesnake Shake - ZZ Top (only played it live...it's on several ZZ Top bootlegs)
Stop Messin' Round - Aerosmith (on their brand new album)
Sisters Of The Moon - Walter Egan
I Loved Another Woman - Rick Vito (again, not sure if it counts due to Rick's membership in Mac)
Homework - Rick Vito (ditto)

Oh, yeah, and BTW:

Quote:
Ebony Eyes ? covered by Bob Welch
Supernatural ? covered by Gary Moore
Gold Dust Woman covered by Waylon Jennings
"Ebony Eyes" was not a Fleetwood Mac song...it was a Welch solo song from the beginning. "Supernatural", also was not a Fleetwood Mac song, itwas a Peter Green song from PRIOR to his Fleetwood Mac days. "GDW": Waylon Jennings AND Willie Nelson

And:
Quote:
Sentimental Lady ? covered by Bob Welch
This and his re-recording of "Future Games" on his The Other One album...I wouldn't call someone re-recording their own song a "cover". Which, by the way, I guess you can include his entire most recent album in this.

Not my list guys, that site lists covers for loads of bands.

Guns N Roses have done Oh Well live I believe. Might have just been Slash jammin' though.

Pretty obscure, even I haven't heard it in more than 20 years-- but Melba Moore did a fantastic cover of 'Dreams' that got some airplay on the East coast circa 1979.
The production values were innovative and jazz-tinged, especially on the choruses and it sounded great on the radio. I believe at the end of the song, part of the chorus was repeated a-capella and with a lot of echo, it was cool. (Moore is probably around Stevie's age, and many years ago she won a Tony Award for a Broadway musical; and recently she was seen in the Beyonce-Cuba Gooding Jr movie 'The Fighting Temptations').

Default Matchbox20!

My favorite cover of any FM song is Matchbox20's "Never Going Back Again." By playing it in a minor key, they took the bright and cheery sheen off of it and exposed the dark bitterness that lurks under the song's surface. I love the additional overlay of "Chain keep us together" with Rob Thomas' tortured screaming of "NEVER GOING BACK!"

Awesome!
