What I want to know is why the hell can't the other companies provide the access to the web that shows the web pages like you see on your desktop. If Apple can do it, why can't they?
cuz Apple is GOD. thats why. I hope Apple rides this train all the way to the BANQUE. (hee!)

Apple giving free iPhones to employees
If every full-time employee receives the device at the end of July, the total cost to the company would be $10.8M.
June 29 2007: 2:53 PM EDT

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) -- Good news and bad news for Apple's 18,000 employees: they are all getting free iPhones but they will have to wait a month to get them.

"We're giving phones to employees at the end of July," an Apple spokesman said Friday ahead of the launch of the device, which combines a cell phone, a Web browser and a music and video player.

Chief Executive Steve Jobs announced the gift in a meeting with employees Thursday. Employees will get the high-end model with 8 gigabytes of storage, worth $600.

iPhone mania hits flagship stores
"That's the good news. The bad news is that he wants the first wave to go to customers. Employees will probably get their phones at the end of July," said one Apple staffer who declined to be identified.

The total cost would be more than $10.8 million if every full-time employee receives one.

Apple (up $2.30 to $122.86, Charts, Fortune 500) did not say if its 2,400 part-time and contract employees would also receive the phones, or if the company would pay the service costs, which range from $60 to $100 a month from exclusive provider AT&T (down $0.06 to $24.60, Charts).

Lucky bastards! Apple must be pretty confident if they're taking an 11 million dollar bite like this.

I just got back from the AT&T store. I've been playing with the iPhone and it is splendid. I don't even know how to describe how fabulous it is. the clarity of the colors on the screen, the weight of it is just perfect, the touchscreen was awesome. they actually let me make a call to test the range and how it sounds and it sounds good. the volume of the earpiece is nice. there IS a vibrate/silent button. I know a lot of people were wondering about that. the homescreen menu is nice. the home button is awesome to have. the menus are a little confusing at first, but I think watching the demo a couple of times with the phone in front of you would solve that. the only thing that I would really have a hard time with at first is the QWERTY keyboard on the touchscreen. it's just weird getting used to it and learning how to hold the phone while typing. it was so hard to walk out empty-handed.

no ****.

if you're not interested and don't want to pay that much money for it why are you asking if someone bought it? generally, if you're not interested in something, you just stay out of the thread and don't comment. at least that's how it works here...I don't know how it was on 7W.
