"The true meaning of all words is open to interpretation"? Actually, almost all words are pretty narrowly defined, that's what the dictionary is for. Sure, some words may have multiple meanings, but I wouldn't really call that "open to interpretation"
And, last I checked? Rude means rude, not, say, "full of happy sunshine and flowers" or "A special kind of lace used by the basque for ceremonial dresses"
ie, the true definition of a word isn't really open to interpretations. That's why it's called a definition, because it defines exactly what the word means.

Just goes to show you that if you let a thread go long enough...

Oh, please, DD, we always do this, you included. It's fun, we like it. This may not be your particular area of fun pointless argument, but it still can be someone's.

If you are so "bored" then you can be bothered to look through the maybe six threads on the link I cited that specifically refer to the Soundstage reviews Otherwise, I bill out at $250 an hour for research and take Visa

Right... and that's why not all dictionaries give the same definitions. And the definition of the word rude is up to interpretation. For example, certain things are considered rude in certain cultures and not in others. Blame it on the public school system, whatever, but I was raised to believe that if you're at a public performance and do not like/agree with/whatever the performer or performance you simply don't applaud. That's not rude. To jeer and boo is rude, but to remain silent is not.

*shudder, cringe*
See Strand's definition of why Kristen's actions were rude. Here, right now, in this culture, within the context of this situtation.
If Kristen was feeling soo jealous, that she couldn't clap for someone who is sharing the stage, and contributing to the songs of, her husband, and whom her husband wanted on the stage, she really shouldn't go at all. Then she could've avoided being rude, which not clapping was, in this case.

What really confuses me about the situation though, and maybe I'm alone in this (as I very well may be in all of my opinions), is if these people were at a Fleetwood Mac concert and Lindsey and Stevie were both on the stage, why the heck were they even looking at Kristen??? Admitedly, when I went to the shows, I looked for her and located her in the crowd before the concert began, but once the band was onstage my thoughts and my eyes were certainly not on her. (And I think you can guess what they were on).
If you're referring to Lindsey Soundstage, I imagine it was much easier to see what her reactions were since during a concert in a TV studio you're usually packed and knowing exactly where she was, it had to be quite natural to turn and look at her every now and then. If you were talking in general, from my experience, when you're just in front of a stage, it isn't that distracting to see what happens and who's in the wings, if you're interested to know what's going on there.

Opinions, theories, whatever. Here's what you said "The fact they have 3 children is strictly due to Kristen's machinations" and I find it extremely rude (see strandinthe wind's definitions) to attack someone's character in such a way without providing evidence.
you left out the IMPORTANT part which was IMO which again, doesnt require evidence. I am stating what I believe. you dont have to like it and I dont have to PROVE it.

the reason I reply is because you ask questions or you are missing an important part of my answer or as in this case you left something OUT.
if you do this, one can only assume you are being deliberate in your attempt to change the context, which as a fiction writer, you must be familiar with.

Mainly it's more procrastination than boredom. Am putting off working on a research assignment that is requiring me to discuss the "recent" trend in the use of rebellion in advertisements and argue whether this has a positive or negative effect on society. Only, I have to base this paper on an assigned article the professor provided - one that was written in 1998, seven friggin' years ago - and nearly every company that article cited has changed their marketing tactics! It's ridiculous, but if I don't get it done and in on time, I fail the class because he does not accept late work and will fail anybody who doesn't turn in ALL assignments. I need a smiley for :stressed out:
