I paid $349+fees for 1 GA Pit ticket to Springsteen in Greensboro a week ago - and got a hand touch from him!
Stevie’s shows are not selling well. I wonder how she feels performing in an area that is half full (or half empty depending on your point of view). Has to be a blow to her ego. Quote:

And Bruce plays right under three hours. Sweats, jumps, and dances. And he hits the high notes in his songs too.

Bruce at 73 years old was non-stop, full-speed ahead, kick-ass rock and roll. His voice is best I've heard it. Oh yeah, he was sweating. I could feel the sweat on his hand when he reached down into the Pit and I brushed his hand. It was warm and humid inside the Greensboro venue, and at the end of the show he ripped open his shirt, with great panache. I've got to say, seeing him close up like that... Bruce is in incredible shape. The next day, I headed to the gym!
But this isn't a Bruce Springsteen message board. It's a Stevie Nicks message board. My underlying point is that Stevie's arena shows don't seem to be selling well. In contrast, Springsteen is selling out the same venues (side stage and back stage too), at much higher average ticket prices. Why are ticket sales for Stevie's arena shows so dismal? Serious question. |

A Springsteen concert in comparison is a spectacle. An event. A marathon where you are likely to get a selection of different songs either not played recently or ever before, and an energy level that is topped by very few (read: any) “classic” acts. He has a fanatic fan base that follows him year after year. Stevie is popular, yes. She is the main draw in Fleetwood Mac, yes. But she’s overexposed and just not the kind of act that can pull in the numbers to fill out an arena tour unless she’s paired with another act (hence why the thing with The Pretenders did well - Stevie’s a greater draw, but The Pretenders are a big enough draw to fill out the gaps). |

I see that there are tickets for her show in Birmingham for $49.50.
Perhaps the promoters give a lot of comp tickets to the shows too? |

What about all those people who claimed she sells out arenas and is so popular?
She's hurt herself by touring way too much with mostly the same setlist but worsening vocals. Then add to the fact the prices for tickets are obscene and you have these shows not selling well. She's not like Bruce in that he does change it up night to night ( this tour being an exception as he's sticking mostly to a standard setlist). Even with the setlist not changing much there are some songs in it that aren't played all the time at his shows. The younger set who are newer fans clearly aren't interested in paying these prices and even some of her more older fans are clearly not interested either. |
