We are sounding like fanboys and fangirls, aren't we? <giggle> But Christine is worth it ... I do miss her so.

I sent the clip to a friend of mine whose favorite Mac member is Christine. This is how he responded:
omg thank you! she kind of looks like a cross between Diane Keaton and Chrissie Hynde but blond and with no style. adorable.

If there's some interest in seeing the rest of the DVD, I'll post it eventually. Just let me know.
I just sent you a private message, MacFan

Wow, thanks so much for posting these Mary Anne! It's made me remember just how good In The Meantime is. What a crime it is that we never got to see songs like Friend and You Are live.

I love Chris on these videos. But her interaction with her nephew seems weird to me, as if they had just been introduced earlier in the week. I have five nephews, & when they see me, they bop me in the head & jump on my back & usually start slugging or kicking me. Of course, they're all quite a bit younger than Christine's nephew. Maybe Dan used to punch Christine's lights out, & she put an abrupt stop to it by walloping him & then chucking a glass of wine (Gewürztraminer, perhaps) in his face.

LOL

As I'm reading this, before I got to the end, I was thinking - "yeah, like Chris would go for that - she'd slap him and then throw a glass of something in his face"....

Do you ever make pasta for them? If you did, they might start to treat you with more reverence.

Perhaps when they were both younger they might have behaved like that. When the video was made she was about 60 and was about 38 so it unlikely there'd have been much horse play. I've got two nephews, one is 27 and the other is 25 and when they were younger we'd muck around a lot but now they're both a bit big for that.

Gail

PS the good thing is that they now buy me drinks in pubs

Well, plus they were on camera, so don't you think Chris and Dan were on their best behavior? Maybe the smacking around the head happened after the film stopped rolling.

I wish there was a little more footage of Dan, actually, plus I wish the rest of the band was there, too.

While we're making silly wishes that can't come true, I wish there was a genuine live performance of some of these songs, and heck, why couldn't have Chris and Dan just done a duo tour, the two of them, her on piano, him on guitar. Everybody's doing acoustic these days; it's very hip, you know.

Now back to reality .....

As I was watching the video, I saw (you undoubtedly did, too) the vast expanse of grounds at her home (the little bridge, the wide lawns, the lanes, the groves). I immediately thought, "Why not have a little rock & blues concert there? Chris & musicians, playing outdoors for perhaps a few hundred lucky locals? A charity event, perhaps, for the town rectory?"
