I'm sorry. I don't know about the treatments available currently, but I do believe they have been able to slow the progression some, so maybe you have some time. But on that note, I think Alzheimer's is one of my biggest fears. Not only of my loved ones getting it, but also of myself getting it. *hugs*
Oh boy, two things to reply to:
1. The casino, I feel, did their best to not help the woman, I don't know if you clicked on the link or not. I think their behavior was very suspect- you do have a point that the fake bill may have been passed on to them by a customer, but their willingness to pay the woman once the media was contacted makes me think they perhaps did it on purpose. Or perhaps not. It sounded deliberate to me, but may not have been. The offer for meal vouchers, which was then revoked, seemed very odd.
2. Alzheimers- I am sorry to hear about the grandmother who may have it.
My mother- and my dad (though he isn't facing it right now) are potentially Alzheimer's patients, or in early stages. What is little known about the disease is that there is only a 'suspicion' of it- Whether a person actually has Alzheimer's cannot be determined with exact certainty until an autopsy is performed (specifically, of the brain), obviously after death.
Of course, there are tell-tale signs of Alzheimers, but it is possible 'your' grandmother may not have the disease at all. I really don't think my mother has it, but she is on a prescription med that slows down deterioration of the brain called Aricept. It just has made her horribly skinny, as the first two side effects are extreme loss of appetite and major weight loss- along with stomach cramping and total lack of energy. It's very sad when a persons body or mind begins to betray them, but Alzheimers is very tricky for many reasons, and the one that bugs me is that only when the autopsy is performed do you ever know for sure the person had the disease. It can be dementia, or just 30 years of diabetes and a lifetime of clinical depression and the side effects of every med she is on and has ever been on, in my Mom's case, and not Alzheimers at all.
I wish your grandmother and you well. If she just got the news, I bet they will put her on the Aricept, which helps the mind, I just hope your grandmother is not already thin.

I want the newer White TV/DVD combo, but they are scarce in stores unless you get a tiny one. I want a 32 or 37 inch, white with the built in dvd player. HSN.com has one right now, but it has one customer review who wrote it's awful. Amazon has one that seems good but it is only 26".
Maybe as Christmas comes closer there will be more in stores. I'm feeling stubborn and have to have the white, to match my Mac and my walls! Way less black tvs is my prediction for the next decade, the white and grey will take over. Shows less dust, too, I'd bet!
I have a TV/DVD player and to be honest with you, they're not that great. They suffer faults really easily and I've had to replace mine a few times for eating my DVDs. Personally I just don't think they're a good investment.

JTIS

I lost my Grandmother on my Father's side to Alzheimers, and my Father's showing early stage signs of it. I never really saw my Grandmother, only met her a few times, so I guess it didn't hit as hard as it should have done really. I also have close Relatives on my Mother's side who have succumbed to it. I'm pretty much destined to get it myself. It's hard to see the change in people when they go through it, but try to make the most of her while you still have her. Have you tried making a scrapbook of memories for her? Also, I found that making one of every day things helps in the later stages because they have that "comfort blanket" so they don't have to rely on people as much as they would haved one. Anything they struggle with could go in there, like how to use the telephone if they forget, important numbers, where to find different foods in the kitchen etc.

Hey Guys,
JTIS that last night I went to my first social. As I go to an all boys school, it was for some, a first chance to socialize with girls from other schools. Basically it was a hall packed with rabid 15 year olds 'fist pumpin'.

What a night
(^^ Sarcasm!!!)

Anyways, here comes a spoonful of some REAL music.
...Sigh...

Going round town was like being on Safari, I swear. Me and my friend saw SO MANY women wearing leopard print clothes / accessories.

Also, Zebra and Tiger print stuff as well.

But everywhere we looked... leopards. There was a safari family, the mother was a leopard, the daughter was a zebra.

It was all very bizarre.

Hey guys

I'm working on a project that will eventually become the science fair project that I'll present in February. Anyway, I need all the help I can get, and part of my project is interviews. I need people who are 20-30 years old and people born before 1950.

The questions are:
1. Name
2. Birthdate and origin
3. Are where you grew up (country, city, state, county, etc.)
4. General summary of what the economy was like as you were growing up
5. What technology was available
6. The medicine that was available
7. The illness & diseases that existed or were a big deal
8. The treatments and cures that were available for those illnesses and diseases

If anyone is willing to help me out (please please please and thank you!) that would be really awesome. You can shoot me an message anytime between now and Sunday.

P.S.

Diversity is awesome and a big plus for what I am doing.
It would be great if I could get people from the U.S., Canada, Europe, and all other places
If you guys know anyone who would be willing to answer these (simple) questions, then it would be awesome if you can get them to answer them

Much love and thanks to the people who will help a sister out.

WOW that sucks =\ Having it on both sides must be difficult! OOO a scrapbook is a really good idea!! I have to dig out the big box of pictures I have in our trailer with all of our excess stuff in it lol We actually dont have a HOUSE phone since the 3 of us have cell phones but since shes moving in with us we hooked up a house phone and we'll probably have an address book of numbers for her to have. Thanks for the suggestions!

So today I FINALLY finished my 100P test for school. Which if I passed I could move onto becoming a "Sophmore" lol SO I passed with a 95 and over all so far in school I have an average of a 98 =D This is like THE best I have EVER done in school lol So starting next week I will be on the floor of the salon and after 9 days i'll have enough hours to work on clients and do wash, cut, and dry stuff. Then after a certain amount of hours I can use chemicals like color and perms. Man I LOVE school!

Oh I also got some high lights today...nothing special...I had some free time and one girl offered to do it =D

I will have my first social(ish) type thing on Saturday. It's my homecoming dance. I'll let you know how it goes. I haven't been to a dance since my 8th grade dinner dance thing. Fun times...
Children like to do some really freaky things IN FRONT OF EVERYONE at dances...not kidding. It's gross. The high school dances get people pregnant. They like to just do it in the middle of the dance floor (no joke). Two kids from a different high school (same county) got caught doing that.

Oho. I am beyond pissed right now. My Dad's buying himself a laptop, despite telling me he's hasn't got any money; since he owes me over a hundred quid for Uni books, money he PROMISED he'd give me back (otherwise I wouldn't moan) but it's money I desperately need.

And, in all honesty, I'm disappointed my Mum hasn't thrown him out yet. It's been bad between them for months, and the other night they had a massive argument, he kicked her, so she pinned him against the wall and slapped him. Next day he does his whole "I'll change" thing, and she laps it all up. Disgusted. There is never ANY excuse for hitting a woman. Never.

My little brother has it so right. They'll be fine for a few months, then they'll fall out and everyone will be miserable again. Typical.

My auntie and uncle just left to carry on up to Hull. I've not seen my Uncle since my dad left because he didn't wan't to have to talk to my dad after what my dad did. My little Max thought he was ace

Point is, though. He came down having poked his head into my room to say Hi to my bunny and told me how he'd noticed my Christine poster. We then talked about how she was and In The Meantime. He told me he recognised the song titles from 1984 that were on the poster and that I had fantatstic taste. It was so awesome for someone who's known me so long to actually show an interest in Christine
