Flashback Friday: Dress like Stevie Nicks

Aldo Kaucher Cuff, $15
The Sak Studded Drawstring Purse, $26
Jeffrey Campbell The Braid Boot, $182
Deepa Gurnani Headband, $64
Lace Maxi Dress, $90
Juicy Couture Earrings, $68
Bailey 44 Blaze Shrug, $88
I know the boots are way over budget, but maybe you can use your little end of the month fund on them, they're just too fab and incredibly Stevie.

Stevie Nicks owns a very special place in my heart. Now she's no Siouxsie in my life, but she's definitely in my top ten of influential women. Stevie has an inspirational story--she's very human. She's gone through very many trials a lot of people do, but she's one of those "untouchable" rock stars.

First of all, let's start with the fact that Stevie has a singing voice not regularly accepted. Put her on the American Idols of today and she'd be kicked off right away. Her entrance into Fleetwood Mac was only due to Lindsey Buckingham telling members they were a package deal. They'd only wanted him because of his fantastic song-writing skills. From the beginning Stevie was a reject of sorts. Stevie reached fame with Fleetwood Mac, though many people know starting a band with a spouse is almost definitely a mistake. Both Stevie and Lindsey wrote songs about their breakup including Lindsey's Go Your Own Way, one of Fleetwood's most popular hits. He brought up both her cheating and drug abuse, though Stevie denied the cheating.

Stevie dealt with cocaine and tranquilizer addiction through a great deal of her fame, and from what I've read in articles she was high most of the time. She did eventually overcome her addictions somewhere around 1998.

I actually saw her on the Crystal Visions tour (2007) and it was spectacular! Stevie sang Landslide and Edge of Seventeen, among others. Stevie definitely puts on a great show, and I suggest any of you who get a chance to see her.

The girl who wrote this is right and she's wrong. Stevie would mos def be booted off American Idol if she were an unknown contestant & Lindsey was hired because of his guitar playing, not his songwriting skillz. That was a good guess on her part though.

Discover the Magical Power of Pulling Heartstrings …It’s Mindblowing!
May 8th, 2010 | Author: superhatian

I wish you never have to go through that kind of pain!

Last week, I was on the breath-taking island of Puerto Rico at a resort on the beach enjoying the crashing waves of the ocean and the cool breeze. If you don’t know by now, I am an observer. I love to observe people and their behavior.

Maybe I have been living under a rock. But I had no idea that so many people had tattoos on their bodies. Honestly, I am not a tattoo fan. The way I see it, I probably would go along with any trend, as long as it wasn’t something that was permanent.

I would want to be sure that I could get rid of it if my belief changed, and/or after I had realized what I had done was silly and stupid. But that’s just me.

Although I would never have a tattoo put on myself, I admit that many of the ones I saw were really beautiful and true works of art. And so, now my tattoo antenna was up. Suddenly I began to notice people with tattoos everywhere. It’s almost as if the trend just started.

This week, a woman at the post office took me back to Puerto Rico. She was standing in front of me in line. And guess what? Yes, she had a tattoo on the right side of the back of her shoulder.

It was a great picture of Stevie Nicks. Oh, and for those of you who don’t know who Stevie Nicks is, well, we have something in common. I had no idea who in the world she was until my waiting-in-line companion told me.

Without getting too into it, Stevie Nicks is a light rock singer who was hot in the 60’s and 70’s. Now the big question: Why in the world someone would go through so much pain to tattoo a total stranger on his or her back? Can you guess? Well, I can.

It all comes down to emotion. In this case, it’s pleasure. Emotion is a little word that rules our world. I bet you that the lady tattooed Stevie on her shoulder because of the way Stevie’s music makes her feel.

It’s obvious that it must be a deep-seeded emotion. It was so deep that the woman made a lifetime commitment to carry the photo of a stranger on her back! Now that is a true fan!

Would you like for others to carry you, perhaps in their hearts and minds for a lifetime? Well, go out and start making people feel great and you will have friends for life.

You see, you don’t have to be a doctor in order to operate on someone’s heart! Have you ever noticed how some people change their colors when you shower them with high praise? I am telling you, a chain of chemical reactions take place at the moment a “heart is touched.” Try it and observe.

Emotion is what makes the world go round. But keep in mind that I am talking about pleasurable emotion. And with repetition, it can undoubtedly cause others to want to tattoo you on their backs.

Right now, no matter where you are, you have the power to make someone feel good. And it doesn’t cost one red cent to make that happen. All you have to do is to give an elevating compliment or do an unexpected favor.

It’s unlikely that this one act of kindness would create that effect. But with repetition, you can definitely achieve the same warm result.

The opposite is also true. If we keep pinching others’ self confidence or verbally abuse them, they will tattoo us on their jerk list. What I really want to say is

their sh _ t list. You get my point.

Let me know when someone tattoos your face on his or her back.

I wish you incredible success!

From a Goldmine article on The Runaways

http://www.goldminemag.com/features/...bad-reputation

In winter 1977, The Runaways entered Larrabee Studios in Hollywood to do Waitin’ For The Night. Vicki Tischer-Blue took over on bass, and Joan Jett became lead singer. One evening, Bingenheimer and I hand-clapped behind Joan on the track “Gotta Get Out Tonight.” Fleetwood Mac was in an adjoining studio. Stevie Nicks and Suzi Quatro visited a couple recording sessions, while Bryan Ferry and Jerry Hall also checked out Larrabee and Fowley in action.

STEVIE NICKS ADDS INITIAL SUMMER DATES
5/13/2010

Stevie Nicks has announced three East Coast summer dates for late August -- August 25th in Verona, New York at the Event Center At Turning Stone Resort Casino; August 27th in Atlantic City, New Jersey at the Mark G. Etess Arena; and August 28th in Mashantucket, Connecticut at MGM Grand At Foxwoods. Although no other dates have been posted, more shows are expected to be announced.

After six years of massive hits with Fleetwood Mac, 1981's Bella Donna solidified her position as a major mover in '80s rock. Nicks says that she hopes that her decades of singing, writing and performing have helped inspire future generations of women to do the same: "I hope that I'm a part of the reason why they make music, you know? I always wanted to be inspirational to other singers, and I wanted to be a success story for women where they could say, 'Well, she made it. I could make it, too.' It seems that somehow I've managed to do that. I never really tried to do that, but it seems that that has happened."

Nicks has been recording a joint project with the Eurythmics' Dave Stewart. Little is known about the joint set except for the fact that violinist Ann Marie Calhoun has contributed to some tracks. There's been no word as to when new album will be released.

Emily Gould has come a long way since her stand off with Jimmy Kimmel on CNN. The former Gawker editor, who delivered an unvarnished account of the Kimmel episode and her internet overshares in a 2007 cover story in The New York Times Magazine, has just published a new collection of essays, And The Heart Says Whatever, about life as a twenty-something woman in the digital age. Felicity Loughrey, a regular contributor to The Inside Source, eBay's new style magazine, recently caught up with the blogger turned author. The following is an excerpt of that interview.

"If one 23-year-old who has a Tumblr and lives in an outer-borough of New York likes my book, well, I'm satisfied," Emily Gould says of her new memoir, And The Heart Says Whatever. In it, she falls in and out of love with a boy in a band and skips between jobs in a bar, at a book publisher and at the Gawker Media empire.

The title is borrowed from the Stevie Nicks song "Think About It," and to say Gould is a fan is an understatement. She's currently searching eBay for old Fleetwood Mac memorabilia. "I would love a Rumours concert tee, really faded and worn out," she says, noting she shops the online marketplace for vintage clothes and shoes after she makes her way "through my usual list of websites and Cute Boys With Cats on Tumblr." Her favorite purchase: "I had a really excellent pair of Frye boots, a specific type that is hand-tooled with heels weighted for horseback riding. They just completely bit the dust, so I spent an obsessive few months on eBay and found a new pair. They were $60 and they usually resell for $200."

Gould, who hosts the culinary web show "Cooking the Books" on Vimeo, is also hunting "a stainless steel saucepan--kind of a boring item, but I recently scorched my old one by boiling water and then forgetting about it and falling asleep. I'm lucky I didn't burn my house down."
