I don't even know who Patti Smith is but I just voted for her b/c everybody here likes her. I don't care use nigger or nigga on this board but I think that it is disgusting to say b/c maybe there are black american members on this board. If you can pull that off, I'll be congratulating you. That was my goal when I first joined and I have failed miserably at it. I think it's impossible to be both honest and nice...I have to go with honest sometimes over the latter.

I really hate that word as well. If I listen to music that uses the word, I choose not to sing it when I hear it. But I also think it's very unfair to judge a song for having it, not knowing what context it's used in, as dissention said. Another example of this would be Lennon's "Woman is the Nigger of the World." I feel the same way about the word "sodomite." It offends me. But, it's the same idea, I believe. One can use the word "sodomite" in a song to express a very different sentiment than the one that offends me so deeply.
