Jason - a lot of "diet" foods are fortified with extra fiber. It's like Weight Watchers thinking - if an item has more fiber, it's fewer points than one without fiber. WW yogurt has fiber in it, so do most "light" breads. Fresh fruits & raw veggies are always best, of course.
I got some bread from Trader Joe's that has 5 grams of fiber per slice! And its good!

Especially since it happened in 5 months or so...but once I reach my ideal weight my body will stop, and I will actually have to follow your advice and work on it myself. Being a biologist, I should be better at this diet thing since I know all about the glycolytic pathway and all the secrets of metabolism...BUT I don't practice what I preach to my students in my courses. Who has time for 5 small meals a day? I barely have time for 3!
Hey, congratulations! I've never heard of that medicine, how weird that it makes you lose weight really fast?

Yeah, I never wanted to join either. My friend finally copied the stuff for me and I started the Core Foods plan about a month ago. I've lost 9 lbs, and it hasn't really been that hard. In fact, as far as my past diets go, this is the easiest.
Here's the ranking:

Atkins: Way to restrictive and just plain unhealthy
South Beach: A little more variety of foods allowed, but still pretty restrictive
WW Core Foods: Some foods, like breads, processed flour, sugar, and all junk food are still a no-no, but you can eat any fruit or vegetable you want and as much from the Core Food list as you want. It's so easy! I love it because I hate being hungry and any little kind of junk food is a trigger for me. I have to stay off it totally in order to stay committed to my diet.

Anyway, I do think it's worth a try even if you don't go to meetings.

Also, let me say that I love Curves. I started back in January and feel and look so much better. So what if most of the people are much older than I am? I like to spend my 30 minutes there and be done with my exercise for the day.

Yeah, it was a shocker at first...the first 20 lbs melted away before I knew what was happening! The side effects are a little odd, but you get over them...mild numbness and dysmyopia.
