The doc
Quote:
Anyway, I was reading everyone's comments about the doc and was wondering when it was filmed. There is a moment of film that shows Lindsey walking around his house (former house?) and there is a still shot on the UTS cover of this segment of film. This might lead me to believe that the calls to record company execs were to secure a company for UTS. However, UTS was released by Reprise, which I believe had been his company for a few years...? In the doc and in a recently posted interview, we hear that he is a "free agent". So, I don't think he would have considered himself a "free agent" prior to releasing UTS. Maybe I am just getting confused though...??? And, his comment to his final phone caller, something to the effect of seeing the writing on the wall. Do y'all think this means releasing material via Fleetwood Mac, rather than solo? If it was meant to show him shopping for a record company for the new solo album, I'm curious if that material will now fill a new FM album...? Then again, maybe it was as someone else recently posted, an illustration of the music business industry bottom line mentality of today. I'm thinking it was shot over a very long period of time with clips from pre UTS release to clips from post UTS release. |

Good observation about "pushing the live album limit", time for a poll obviously.

You know, we live in a new world and with so many fan bootlegs being easily circulated today, I think performers ought to put out a live DVD each and every time they do anything -- sneezing included. I mean, there are going to be boots floating around anyway. Why not have one clear, pristine, official version of every tour you do, just for the historic record? No one is buying this stuff anyway, so is there really a gigantic fear of over-saturating the market?
I can understand limiting your live CDS more than I can the live DVDs, actually. Michele |

Rush have released a live DVD of their last two tours and have a third one out later this year. Not to mention the three VHS concerts they released in the 80's and countless live albums over the years. And I'm glad that their recent tours are being released officially for exactly the reasons you said, Michele. I want a new DVD of Lindsey's next solo tour just so I can have it. Who knows, it might be the last solo tour he does and then we'll have no official live document of the new songs when they're done live and that would be a shame. (I'm working on the assumption that he will indeed get a record deal and tour for the new album)

But then this is Lindsey and the thought of him selling a release of a concert played on the very same tour is an impossibility - the instant live thing is fit for bands who have no need to polish everything to perfection.

Live dvds
Regarding the idea of selling them on his own: if only he had a live recording of the Out of the Cradle tour that he could sell on his own at his next live event!
