This is an article complaining about the Ticketmaster surcharge.

http://www.examiner.com/x-1348-Twin-...of-convenience

While many ticketing services charge such extra fees, no organization is as large as Ticketmaster or as notorious for markup costs. Take, for example, the recently announced Fleetwood Mac show at the Excel Energy Center scheduled for March 3rd. Mid-level tickets have a face value of $77.50. Not a cheap seat to begin with, but you'll be paying even more if purchasing through Ticketmaster. Convenience fees for that $77.50 ticket run $10.80, adding 14% to the original cost.

Yep, they played Japan in 1977 & 1980. I was always curious as to why they did some TV & press in Japan in 1990, but apparently didn't play any shows there. Anyone know?

Also weird why the SAY YOU WILL tour didn't reach Japan.

From what I can recall from my vinyl copy of "Fleetwood Mac Live," where all of the dates/attendance of the Tusk tour are listed, they played very tiny theatres/arenas in Japan- like in the 2500-3500 seat range. I'm not sure if this is because they weren't popular enough to play sports arenas and stadiums, or whether they just liked playing to tiny packed venues (which certainly does not seem to be the case anymore!). If it is the former rather than the latter, my guess is that they just didn't find it justifiable monetarily to make the trek over there with all of their equipment and entourage for Mask and SYW.

They should play the smaller venues now. They'd probably sell more tickets with less seats really...same for Stevie. They don't draw the crowd they used to.

High-priced summer tours

In fact, this could pretty much be any year. But a Britney Spears tour, a new U2 album and the return of No Doubt means that for those who want to see live music, 2009 isn’t going to be easy on the wallet. Looks like Fleetwood Mac may be the odd band out in this.

I was wondering why they haven't announced any dates in the southeast. This is any area that have had highly attended Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, etc. concerts. The closest they are playing so far is Washington D.C. I will be so upset if they don't come this way on this tour. Anyone have any info about this. Are they going to announce more dates?

I agree. D.C. is just too far for me even from Knoxville. I think that they will at least hit Nashville though. I have my fingers crossed.

Fleetwood Mac's tour:

I've read on The Chain that the shows on sale aren't selling.

What do you think this means for the tour? Is there a possibility they'd cancel it? Somebody said they should just play theaters, but I don't see the Fleetwood Mac goliathon doing that. Their whole shebang is geared to the arena or the amphitheater -- the massive venue with 10,000 or 15,000 people & dozens of crew putting up tons of stage gear. It's an enormous undertaking, & I don't see how it would be modified to "work" in a theater. It would be like trying to get the square peg into the triangular hole.

They're rehearsing now, aren't they? Do you think they're worried about the patchy sales?

Thumbs down

When tickets for the Ottawa Show went on sale I was in line at 5:30 in the morning thinking there would be a long lineup. I was the only one till about 8:00 then another man was there, By the time they were on sale there were about 5-10 people. Even being first in line I only got 23 rows back in section C. Then late last week I pulled up Section B row 9.it makes me wonder how many tickets are sold or not?

This could turn out to be a costly tour for them if dates don't sell very well.

Matt

Serves them right. Those prices in this economy? Good riddance.

Or...it could be costly to fans if shows are cancelled due to poor sales. Fans who purchased tickets will likely get stuck with the ser charges.
