and your telling me this why? They said to me "F*ck You". And I'm the one who is getting personal?

Well, if anyone wants to convert to Buddhism...you're welcome to use our precept, which basically says "no killing, no exceptions."

Hello? Where were you when the war began? He started the war because of "weapons of mass destruction" and "nuclear weapons..." and then when none of that was found change the reason to "combatting terrorism and the spread of democracy.." gotta love him

I've enjoyed reading this thread...it's odd that it's here, cuz I just noticed the other day stuck on the stop sign near our KFC was a sign that says "KFC Cruelty.." and at first I was like huh? Then I got it STOP ----KFC Cruelty

Thats true I never thought about that! lol.

I guess I should pick my battles. But I still like to post information here that doesn't have a "left" twist to it.

Finally brwn_eyes you have made me see what you stand for...let me get it all straight

Killing innocent iraqis = OK, as long as it's for a "good cause"

Killing inmates who have been convicted, but sometimes only circumstansially = OK

Killing our own soldiers = OK, again as long as its for a good reason

Mistreatment of animals = OK, as long as the chicken still tastes good

Abortion = WRONG WRONG WRONG

Something doesnt make sense with this equation...PRO LIFE, but only SOME life??

Chris

I knew better than to post that...

I'm not sure you wanted to get into a discussion of Buddhist ethics, but against my better judgment, here goes:

All killing, and probably even doing anything that allows or promotes killing, creates negative karma. In Buddhism, we don't make excuses. Sometimes, killing might be unavoidable, or it might be the only appropriate response to a situation, but it's still a non-virtue, according to Buddhist teaching.

I said abortion is the murder of a child. FROM THAT statement she drew the conclusion of "child murderer".

Oh ok. I was just wondering. Wasn't trying to start a debate on it. Just wondered what you thought about in cases of self-defense.
