And that intro music...those tentative little wisps of keyboard. It reminds me of how one reviewer in 1983 said the intro to Sable On Blonde sounded like the music for a feminine hygiene commercial. That would be Silver Girl.
for my two cents...nothing, NOTHING is worse than the lyrics in Silver Girl. I'm embarrassed just reading them here...IYEDB doesn't even come close!

Remember that review where the critic actually thought it was about a porn star?

Another case where compromise might have damaged the final product.

Are happy campers able to make the music we've all come to know and love?

I know - AND - I think Tusk was not really a huge war. I have nothing to base it on. But, it is just a feeling. So, go figure.

Yeah, but I think Alge's mixes take a lot of warmth away from her vocals. TISL, for example, is one acquired taste of an album and that has a lot to do with her vocals in the mix.

This is one for the record books. WE DO NOT AGREE? SG makes me gag.

Am I the only one who thought the guys were being sarcastic in DR praising the demo so much?

I don't think they were being sarcastic. However, I wouldn't put it past them to be kissing up and overdoing their praise for the sake of the camera. The other option (and actually the one I lean towards) is that they were praising ALL the demos and not just Silver Girl.

I have to say it's my least favorite on the album. Lame lyrics, dull tune. Self-indulgent to boot. "Oh let me sing about my famous friend."

Will you write this for me?
He says No, write your songs yourself
That made me stronger
Made Dissention sicker

I also thought they were referring to all the demos, but just in case I'd like to listen to the SG demo with the flute, so whoever is hiding it, could please bring it out?

To me it sounds more about herself than about Sheryl, especially in the chorus, the part I like.

I thought she said somewhere it was about Sheryl, but if she's talking about herself, that's even worse! lol

She has said it is about Sheryl, but also about "girls like Sheryl". Which, of course means it is about Stevie too. But then again, aren't all of Stevie's songs about Stevie, when you get down to it ?
