For Stevie, it's all about the production. I think both she and the band are trying to figure out what they want, and that's where they disagree. There's no doubt they can crank out songs...but what really makes the songs work is how they sound and the overall sound they are going for. I feel that hasn't gelled 100% in a long time.

I frankly couldn't care less if FM records ever again, and I don't go to their nostalgia shows because I'd rather hear fresh music, especially if I'm expected to pay a couple hundred dollars for a ticket. I just wish they would end this dance so Lindsey can go back to his solo career and put out music that is far more interesting and gratifying than what this band is likely to produce. If the four-song EP is any indication of the quality of music FM would release in a new album, I would definitely pass. Overall, this is just such a waste of time. Here you have one of the least prolific, yet famous, bands of all time unable to put out new music -- a band that has inspired countless others and is often held up as a significant contributor to the history of rock. If this is how FM goes out, it's so terribly pathetic and sad. And it's all Stevie's fault. |

If FM had broken up or Stevie had walked away during the "Rumours" days LB probably would have been replaced or quit just like the many before or after him and the name "Lindsey Buckingham" would be a long forgotten side note in the history of FM. Stevie would have hade a successful solo career since the ground work to set Stevie up as a "solo artist along with early recordings for her first record were already being set up long before "Tusk" came out. |

On this tour yes...If CM had not returned you would probably not be hearing from FM until 2016 or 2017.

Stevie might or might not have had a successful solo career. If she hadn't teamed up with Jimmy Iovine, and instead some sycophantic producer, it could have all gone very differently. Jimmy kept her grounded. She was just lucky that early on she happened to sleep with two great producers -- Lindsey and Jimmy -- who had great instincts for her song sketches. But it's all speculation. Who knows what would have happened? |
