I think you’re a wreck. Nobody has said anything that offensive to warrant your over emotional reactions. I was the one who made a video in favor of getting Stevie in the Hall of Fame. However, it amazes many people who doesn’t even get nominated. In Carole King’s case, the fact that you are even arguing this just goes to show you don’t know what you are talking about.

Also, who is Diane Ross?
Where is written that someone has to have talent to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Half of them don’t. Janet Jackson is a great dancer, but mediocre singer and now she is in there. Carole King, who wrote and played on her own songs and created one of the most important records in Rock history is only in their as part of a writing team and NOT in their for ground breaking solo career. It’s BS.

On their website: "demonstrating unquestionable musical excellence and talent" https://www.rockhall.com/inductees/induction-process

That said, I think a Hall Of Fame for rock and roll is stupid because music is subjective. It's like what Woody Allen said about his track trophies vs. his Oscars: The track trophies mean he measurably ran the race faster than the others whereas the Oscars are just some people's opinion.

I've been a Stevie Nicks fan for 43 years....anyone who knows me will attest that the four ladies I've been saying need to be inducted into the Hall are Stevie, Carole, Carly Simon and Pat Benatar!
It doesn't have to be one or the other....they can ALL get in....and DESERVE to!

But to say that Carole King is basically a one hit wonder is ridiculous, and shows a SERIOUS lack of knowledge of rock history. Much like Stevie and Pat (and Tina!) dominated the airwaves and turntables of the 80's, Carole and Carly (along with Joni and Linda) ruled the 70's.

Hi bwboy, yes, I'd drastically reduced the time I spend online for many reasons, one being that instead of being fun it was starting to actually become wearying, so I took a step back but I still lurk at least once a day to see if someone posted something in the Chit Chat subforum.

You are pathetic. You are still trying to sell Carole King to us. We are not buying it! This is a Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks forum. Let it go sis.

I agree about Pat Benatar and perhaps Carly Simon. I just don't see it with Carole King as a performer. She's in as a Non-Performer, and that's good enough. I know "Tapestry" was a huge album, but so what? She didn't have other noteworthy studio albums. I love Tracy Chapman's first album (1988) which was also huge. Should she also get in based on the strength of ONE album? I don't know. Just because I don't agree with you, it doesn't make me clueless.

GERRY GOFFIN AND CAROLE KING
Year inducted: 1990
Induction category: Non-Performer

Nick, she's had one diamond album, two platinum and six gold....those are pretty "noteworthy" numbers!
To say that having her in as just a non-performer and that's good enough is no different than all those folks who said "Oh, Stevie is in as part of Fleetwood Mac, and that's good enough! Aside from "Bella Donna" and one or two other singles, her solo career was spotty at best!" (Something which I TOTALLY disagree with!).
There's more to being inducted than just sales....Carole had a HUGE influence on
both her generation and numerous ones after her.
As far as comparing her to Tracy....there is no comparison. Tracy had one great album and two great singles, but almost zero influence. In fact, if we want to go down that road, it's pretty safe to say Joan Armatrading should get in before Tracy!

I think Carole King should be in. If “Tapestry” was the only thing she ever released, that alone should still be enough. It’s still in heavy rotation after all these decades.

I have to concur. Kate should have been in there before Stevie solo. Her body of work is superior to Stevie's and she is every bit as influential actually musically far moreso.

It's beyond rare to read positive posts here. Complaining, accusations, blah blah. Geez. I'm happy Stevie Nicks is being inducted into the Rock Hall.

Default my girl..

in the rock and roll hall of fame as a member of Fleetwood Mac and as a solo artist... I'm in love with her again and this song too..

"..you may be the righteous one.. but it won't be right for me.. how it lasted so long.. it's a mystery to me..." "-- i used to love you.. see the light inside of you.. I used to dream that you were an angel.." and I was a starving child...
