That song sang by Olivia Neutron Bomb in the 1970's, went something like
"I love you, I honestly love you. I honestly...love you." So pretty. Especially the "if we both were born, in another place and time..." part. |

it was a very tender vocal, I think I remember getting a lump in my little 6-year old throat when I heard it as a kid.

I loved ONJ as a kid. Our basement was finished and had two poles(?) from floor to ceiling. I used to play Hopelessly Devoted to You on my record player and pretend I was her. Singing my little heart out as I held onto the pole like she did in Grease.

I had a portable phonograph, the kind that was like a suitcase and you could carry. Grease and the Saturday Night Fever album got much airplay. Did you ever do backyard shows? Here's a controversial one we did: Donna Summer's famous 'Bad Girls' album. Picture THAT, a bunch of 9 year olds pretending to be hookers. We even made a fake streetlight for one of the girls to pose under, swinging her purse waiting for a John, LOL!!!!! |

I love your hooker story. Do you think this is all because of where we grew up? Are there others like us? lol |

Maybe it's a Long Island thing, heehee. And no small wonder I turned out to be my mother's only gay son. My two brothers were busy playing street hockey and stickball. LOL |

FINALLY! (chiliD saves that day) Those who are not pre-1975 Fleetwood Mac fans need to hear this instrumental, along with Danny Kirwan's "Sunny Side of Heaven". While I'm not going to question the choices some of you list, you may want to check into the back yard of the band forum you post, you may be surprised.
For years one of my favorite Beatle songs was "Sun King" from "Abbey Road". I would certainly list it in the beautiful category. It was years later I learned that "Sun King" came from Fleetwood Mac's "Albatross". Just a thought. Last edited by slipkid; 02-04-2010 at 12:43 AM.. |

Today's entries are...
"Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In" - Fifth Dimension "Sweet Caroline" - Neil Diamond "If You Leave Me Now" - Chicago "Hello" - Lionel Richie "I'm Not In Love" - 10cc "When You and I Were Young, Maggie" - George Washington Johnson "She's Always A Woman" - Billy Joel "Ferry Cross The Mersey" - Gerry & The Pacemakers (particularly the single version... at least I think that's right...) "Africa" - Toto (another near favourite of mine) And anything from Norah Jones' album Come Away With Me, Bryan Ferry's album Boys And Girls, and Tracy Chapman's self-titled album.

An unusual choice for a beautiful song, but also an unusual choice for a Ravel composition. Have you heard the final section of Ravel's "Ma mere l'oye" ballet music suite? It's called "The Enchanted Garden" (or "The Fairy Garden").
