Interesting to see that it's Danny doing the major guitarwork on this Peter Green composition.

Quote:
The major part of the music business now is about marketing. Before the artists would create the music and make a record and then the record company would make a marketing campaign around it. It's the other way around now, so that the music is the last element to be considered. In those days musicians were allowed to make records that weren't instant hits, so they could develop their music. Now they have to have a hit right away, or else...It is all very calculating and strategic. There is a great book written about this development in the british music industry by Simon Napier-Bell, called: Black Vinyl - White Powder. No mention of Fleetwood or Peter green though, but still a very well-written book. Ms Moose |

Not to drag this thread farther off-topic, but Ms Moose has touched upon something that really grinds my gears. Music Industry? Two words that really, really shouldn't be together. Since when have art and assembly lines mixed well? Anyone here want to sink their life's savings into the Sculpture Industry?
Another example is theater, specifically Andrew Lloyd Weber-style big money, generic musicals. For the most part, they've pushed the rest of theater so far off, off Broadway that you couldn't find a good show with a Sherpa guide and a team of sled dogs. Even if you can manage to open an original show, if it doesn't make millions in the first week it's booted to make room for another revival of Cats. Rant Over, thanks for listening. CW |

Absolutely right Chilly (hope you don't mind me using your 1st name).Andrew Lloyds Bank Weber should've stuck to making carburettors, they sound much better.
