Click on the John Kerry video and be amazed by the dirty politics. It's pretty raunchy.

Almost $3.5 million from fuel companies, $1.5 million from pharmaceutical companies, $8 mil from investment firms, and $600,000 from...Enron. Even if Kerry took that money, it doesn't even come close to what Shrub took.

In my opinion it is unfair to label any politician bad for taking PAC money, etc. THEY ALL DO IT and over the last 20 years Kerry has taken far more than W. So, I usually barring some event a la no contract bidding for Halliburton (I mean come on - even I have my limits ) - I do not consider PAC money. They all take it because they all need it. In fact, some PAC's even lobby for politicians to take their money by influencing their friends, etc. So, uintil the system is changed, I kind of do not care. That being said, I think it was somewhat perhaps foolish of Kerry to jump so hard on this issue when he is just as bad IMO. I think Kerry needs to focus on W's exxageration of the nuclear stuff to sell the war that Cheney is making money off of. I think enough people are pissed about that. But, they do go hand in hand a little. My $0.02. Here is a mostly sensational article aboput Kerry and donations from an inciting site. Take it for what it is worth. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1065673/posts Here is an interesting and related article from another perhaps less inciting site http://www.opensecrets.org/pressreleases/PresFR1Q2.asp Last edited by strandinthewind; 02-15-2004 at 05:02 PM.. |

I was talking about dirty politics. They all do it. They do anything to convince people to vote for them.. they play dirty and fight like girls.. they just haven't resorted to pinches and hair pulls yet. I didn't find the webad (its not even a tv ad yet, as far as i'm aware) that dirty. Granted, it's not nice, but it wasn't an "attack" other than "you say you're not for this, but your record doesn't reflect what you say."

That ad was nothing IMO compared to what is coming. The Republicans are better at smear compaigns IMO. Just ask Max Cleland, again a triple amputee in Nam, who the Republican party called a traitor and weak on defense becuase he had the sand to question the Pres. of the U.S. on what now appears to be inaccurate intelligence. Moreover, I do not buy all this "Well - that is not W doing it, it is some other loosley realted organizations, etc." That is a load of crap. I cite W's lack of defense of Cleland or W's lack of any attempt to make them stop their attacks on him, call them false, etc. And W certainly was asked about it.
Note: the D's do the same thing - they are just not as effective at it. |
